This is the second preseason outing for Bayern Munich after beating SV Lippstadt 4-3 in their first game. the Bavarians, who won a domestic double at the same time as reaching the last-four of the Champions League last season, have engaged in some impressive recruitment of their own over the summer. Anyway, new signings Mats Hummels and 18-year-old Portuguese international sensation Renato Sanches are still enjoying their holidays.

Carlo Ancelotti, who has replaced Guardiola as manager, will be without the injury-prone Arjen Robben. Guardiola's presence has persuaded players of the calibre of Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, Celta Vigo’s Nolito and FC Ufa’s Oleksandr Zinchenko to move to the Etihad this summer. The likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Bacary Sagna and Kevin De Bruyne are still missing due to the recent Euro 2016 and Copa America duties. The attacking trio will be probably formed by Jesus Navas, Wilfried Bony and Kelechi Iheanacho.
