AUGSBURG v LIVERPOOL BETTING PREVIEW

Augsburg enter this match on the back of a 3-1 loss to Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich on Sunday and they are currently fifth bottom in the Bundesliga standings with home form comprising of two wins, three draws and six defeats. They have lost their last two league games and have not won in four. The German outfit finished their group as runners up to Athletic Club, squeezing through at the expense of Partizan whilst AZ were fourth in the quartet.

Alexander Esswein and Halil Altintop could come into the starting XI as centre-back Jeong-Ho Hong and Piotr Trochowski, formerly of Bayern Munich, Hamburg SV and Sevilla, are both unlikely to feature due to muscle problems, while Jan Moravek should also be out of contention after suffering concussion. January signing Jeffrey Gouweleeuw is cup-tied so Koo could drop back into midfield.

Liverpool, who romped to a 6-0 Premier League win at lowly Aston Villa on Sunday, sit eighth in the table - nine points behind fourth-place Manchester City and will face the Citizens in the League Cup final on February 28. The Reds topped the Europa League group ahead of Sion, Rubin Kazan and Bordeaux. They came through the group stage unbeaten although only two of their six group matches ended in victory.

The Reds will have a week-long break until the second-leg, so Jurgen Klopp is expected to make very few changes. Christian Benteke and Divock Origi could push for starts after the latter came off the bench to score on Sunday. Adam Lallana is missing with a calf injury, but Lucas Leiva could return to the team after shaking off a hamstring problem. The likes of Brad Smith, Kevin Stewart and Jordon Ibe are all hoping for a chance to impress.
