ATLETICO MADRID vs ROMA BETTING PREVIEW 

Atletico Madrid are struggling in recent times. They managed to earn a point against Real Madrid last Saturday (0-0 at Wanda Metropolitano) and trail league leaders Barcelona by 10 points. The Colchoneros have only won two of their last ten games, though they've drawn seven of those games and are still unbeaten in La Liga. Atletico have been embarassing in Champions League as couple of disappointing draws with Azerbaijan minnows Qarabag (0-0 away and 1-1 at home) have left Diego Simeone's men reeling on the ropes. They will be aiming for the maximum points going into this tie in order to keep their hopes of reaching the knock-out stage alive. The form at the new ground Wanda Metropolitano has been particularly poor as the Rojiblancos are win-less in their last six in all competitions.

Diego Simeone has a fully fit squad to choose from, the only absentee being suspended defender Stefan Savic. The former Fiorentina defender will be replaced by Lucas Hernandez or Diego Godin, while Josè Jimenez looks a sure starter. In midfield, Koke and Thomas Partey should get the nod over Gabi and form the central pair. Saul Niguez and Yannick Carrasco are expected to start as wingers while Antoine Griezmann will be partnered by Kevin Gameiro, Fernando Torres or Angel Correa upfront.



Roma come into this match off the back of a big result, having won 2-1 their derby against Lazio at the weekend. That was their 6th victory in a row, after the famous 3-3 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. This winning run also includes a 3-0 home win over the Blues in the reverse match. Having also drew with Atletico Madrid on opening night (0-0) and won at Qarabag (1-2) a fortnight later, a draw in Spain will be enough for Roma to guarantee their place in the last-16 of the Champions League. Anyway, their record away from home has not been impressive in Europe, having won just once in their last 12 matches.

Roma will be monitoring talismanic midfielder Radja Nainggolan after playing through a minor injury in the Derby della Capitale. The Belgian and Daniele De Rossi are expected to make room for Maxime Gonalons and Lorenzo Pellegrini in midfield. Another absentee will be Alessandro Florenzi as he is suffering a minor knee injury while Patrik Schick and Rick Karsdorp are long-term injured players. Coach Eusebio Di Francesco is likely to choose Gregoire Defrel as third forward, alongside Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti, who has scored 4 goals in the last 5 games. No changes are expected at the back where Bruno Peres, Kostas Manolas, Juan Jesus and Aleksandar Kolarov should retain their starting berth.
