STIPE MIOCIC v FRANCIS NGANNOU: BETTING PREVIEW
Stipe Miocic earned his heavyweight champion bel by beating Fabricio Werdum in Brazil last year. Since then he has defended that title twice, beating Alistair Overeem and former champion Junior dos Santos. The champ is enjoying a five-bouts winning run, with all of the fights ending via TKO, including 4 in the 1st round. If Stipe Miocic can claim the victory, it will be his third straight title defence. No UFC heavyweight champion in history has ever successfully defended the title three times.
Miocic is extremely well-rounded, with a background in both wrestling and boxing. Plus, he is a durable and consistent fighter. The Champ is likey to use his wrestling and a smart game plan to push the fight into the late rounds as he has a lot better cardio than the muscle-bound Ngannou. Nobody really knows whether Ngannou can live with the top jiu-jitsu practitioners on the ground because he's hardly been tested, but Miocic will surely be looking for the takedown to take away his challenger's key weapons.
Francis Ngannou boast a 11-1 MMA record but he is a perfect 6-0 in the UFC, finishing all six of his opponents so far (5 KOs and 1 submission). Plus, the Cameroon-born fighter has never gone past two rounds. He enters this fight on the back of a devastating 1st-round KO of Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 on December 2.
Ngannou is a massive puncher and has propelled himself to the top in terms of finishing bouts and if he was to connect with his left hand. This is by far the biggest challenge that he has faced in his short UFC career. The "Predator" knows that Miocic is a great boxer and is less chinny than Overeem. He is also good at submitting opponents having submitted four opponents so far, most recently when Anthony Hamilton very nearly lost an arm to a kimura lock.
