TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 10 BETTING PREVIEW
Just the 10 ascents today in the Massif Central, including 8 categorised climbs; mainly second category but totalling 4,450m of vertical ascent.
This stage offers plenty of opportunities for a breakaway and very little for mental space or physical recovery.
It’s Bastille Day so the French will bust a gut and leave empty-handed. Moreover, with a rest day scheduled for Tuesday, there will be a fierce battle for the General Classification too.
These are the catagorised climbs:
- km.11.8 - Côte de Loubeyrat (cat. 2), 4 km at 6.3%
- km. 54.5 - Côte de La Baraque (cat. 2), 4.8 km at 7.4%
- km. 66.6 - Côte de Charade (cat. 2), 5.1 km at 6.8%
- km. 78.4 - Côte de Berzet (cat. 2), 3.4 km at 7.4%
- km. 115.4 - Col de Guéry (cat. 2), 3.4 km at 6.7%
- km. 124.1 - Col de la Croix Morand (cat. 3), 3.4 km at 5.7%
- km. 155.4 - Col de la Croix Saint-Robert (cat. 2), 5.1 km at 6.4%
- km. 165.3 - Puy de Sancy (cat. 2), 3.3 km at 8%
The 3km, 8% hilltop finish on Le Mont-Dore / Puy de Sancy will crown a stage that wedges 4,500 meters of elevation gain into only 163km.

Stage 10 Favourites
The stage profile looks too demanding for any team to control the race and reduce the gap from the breakaway. So the most likely scenario is a winning breakaway, and in this case the names of the possible winners are quite a lot.
We will prioritise the riders that have show good form in this first 9 days of the Tour.
Above all, Ben Healy that we correctly predicted as Stage 6 winner. The course suits the Irishman and legs looked powerful last Friday.
Other riders that looked brilliant are Quinn Simmons, Marc Hirschi, Romain Gregorie, Pablo Castrillo and Luke Plapp.
Should the GC contenders run also for the stage win, Tadej Pogaçar and Jonas Vingegaard are the obvious favourites, with Remco Evenepoel just behind them.
Dark horses?
As above mentioned, there are a lot of riders that will try to escape. French hopes on Bastille Day are Kevin Vauquelin, Lenny Martinez, Julian Alaphilippe, Valentin Madouas, Guillaume Martin, and Aurelien Paret-Peintre.
As to dark horses, Felix Gall, Mattjas Skjelmose, Carlos Rodriguez, Oscar Onley, Matteo Jorgenson and Florian Lipowitz will have to contend the stage win from the peloton as they would unlikely to be allowed in the break while the likes of Andreas Leknessund, Frank Van Den Broek, Lennert Van Eetvelt, Michael Woods, and Michael Storer will not be controlled by the GC contenders. Among them, Lennert Van Eetvelt's climbing skills look perfect for this stage.
