Arsenal vs Newcastle Betting Preview
Arsenal showed plenty of spirit to battle back for a 2-2 draw with champions Liverpool at Anfield last weekend. Prior to that, Mikel Arteta's men opened May with a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth, before they were denied a place in the Champions League final after a 3-1 aggregate loss to PSG. Despite recording just one win in the last six Premier League games, they mantain a 2 points gap over third placed Newcastle. Victory in their final home game of the season will effectively guarantee second place while a draw will be enough for a top-five finish and Champions League qualification.
Newcastle recorded their seventh win in the last nine league fxtures with an impressive 2-0 victory against Chelsea at St James' Park last weekend. Eddie How's men head into the fray unbeaten in their last three outings, securing comfortable wins over Ipswich Town and Chelsea, while holding Brighton to a draw. A victory here would put the Magpies on course to equal their highest ever Premier League finish and tighten their grip on a Champions League spot. It would be a big upgrade considering they are already qualified for the UEFA Conference League next season thanks to their League Cup win over Liverpool in March.
Best Odds
Arsenal are favourites to win the match in front of their own fans at Emirates. A win for the Gunners is priced at around 21/20 (or 2.08 on non-UK bookmakers). The Draw can be backed at 11/4 (3.77) with the best football betting sites while Newcastle are around 30/11 (3.76) to upset the odds.
Probable Line-Ups
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Zinchenko; Saka, Martinelli, Nwaneri
Mikel Merino will miss the meeting with his former club following his red card against Liverpool last week. Gabriel Magalhaes (hamstring), Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Jesus (both knee) have all seen their seasons end early. The good news for the Gunners is that Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard have all trained ahead of this match. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli look sure starters up front. Elsewhere Oleksandr Zinchenko is a prime candidate for the left eight role, and one of Ethan Nwaneri, Raheem Sterling or Kieran Tierney could start on the left wing.
Newcastle (3-4-3): Pope; Krafth, Schar, Burn; Murphy, Tonali, Guimaraes, Livramento; Barnes, Gordon; Isak
Sven Botman returned to the Magpies side against Chelsea on Sunday but came off with a knee knock and should miss the match. Kieran Trippier and Joe Willock are also doubtful while Lewis Hall, Joelinton and Matt Target are definetely out. We could see Emil Krafth coming into the three-man backline if Botman misses out and Eddie Howe wishes to continue with the 3-4-3 he employed in Gameweek 36. Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon are likely to flank Alexander Isak up front, while Jacob murphy will play as wing-back on the right side..
Our Arsenal vs Newcastle Predictions
Newcastle could become the first team to ever beat Arsenal four times in a single campaign, but the Gunners are boasting a 12-game unbeaten home run against the Magpies in the Premier League.
Actually, the Magpies have an underwhelming record on the road, with just two wins to their name from their last six Premier League away matches.
As a consequence, we believe that both teams would be more than happy with a draw - Arsenal will secure 2d place and Newcastle will seal Champions League football for next season.
2-2 is the scoreline we pick in the Correct Score market while Declan Rice to have 1+ shots on target and Bruno Guimaraes to be carded are our player bets.
