Benfica v Chelsea betting preview
After their impressive display in their 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in their final group game thanks to a goal from Andreas Schjelderup, Benfica secured top spot in Group C and will be high on confidence to get another major scalp at the Club World Cup. Prior to that, the Portuguese club put six goals past tournament whipping boys Auckland City and drew 2-2 against Boca Juniors.
Chelsea reached the Club World Cup knockout stages by beating ES Tunis 3-0 in midweek. The Blues have somewhat struggled in the tournament so far, edging past LAFC (2-0) before losing comprehensively to Flamengo 3-1. Sizzling temperatures have affected Maresca's training plans during this tournament but, by finishing second in Group D, Chelsea are now on the opposite side of the draw to Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Starting Lineups
Benfica (4-2-3-1): Trubin; Aursnes, Silva, Otamendi, Carreras; Barreiro, Kokcu; Di Maria, Prestianni, Schjelderup; Pavlidis
Bruno Lage has almost a fully fit squad, with left-back Alvaro Carreras available again after serving a one-match ban against Bayern Munich. He is still having to cope without long-term absentees Alexander Bah and Manu Silva. Renato Sanches has recovered from his injury while Florentino Luis is expected to miss out due to the shoulder injury sustained in the match against Boca Juniors on June 16. The former Wolves manager could start with a back five, with Antonio Silva and Nicolas Otamendi at the centre. Italian striker Andrea Belotti is back available after serving a two-game suspension for a red card received in the opening match. Anyway, Vangelis Pavlidis should lead the line. Andreas Schjelderup, who scored the decider against Bayern, may have done enough to keep his spot on the left ahead of Bruma and Kerem Akturkoglu.
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; James, Tosin, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Madueke; Delap
After scoring his first goal for Chelsea against ES Tunis, new signing Liam Delap will expect to start again as Nicolas Jackson remains suspended. First-choice goalkeeper Robert Sánchez should return in goal, with the likes of Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Reece James all returning to the starting XI. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Christopher Nkunku shoud make room to Palmer and Neto. In defense, Tosin Adarabioyo is favorite over Trevoh Chalobah to partner Levi Colwill at the heart of the backline.
Best Odds
Chelsea go into this one as favourites at 11/9 (2.20 on Non-UK bookies) to win the match in 90 minutes. Benfica's odds are shortening and the Portugues club is available at 5/2 (3.50) while the Draw is on offer at 13/5 (or 3.60).
Benfica v Chelsea Betting Tips
A closely-contested battle could be on the cards in Charlotte.
Chelsea looked to be running out of steam in their last two matches. They were outplayed by Flamengo and took 45 minutes to break down Moroccan side Esperance Tunis.
On the other side, Benfica are unbeaten in 16 matches within normal time. They lost only four of their final 30 matches in the European club season in 90 minutes and three of those defeats came against Barcelona in the Champions League.
That fatigue could be the difference in this game, but we believe that the Lisbon side will be a tough nut to crack.
As a result, we back Benfica to win or draw in the Double Chance market and the 2-2 as Correct Score.
Both teams to score is another smart option while "Angel Di Maria 1+ fouls committed" and "Enzo Fernandes 2+ tackles" complete our set of predictions.
