Ruby Walsh’s Horse Racing Tips (Saturday 28th September, 2024)
Ruby Walsh announced his retirement from horse racing, a glorious career with well over 2000 wins, following a victory in the Punchestown Gold Cup, the feature event on day two of the Punchestown Festival. The Kildare man is one of the most experienced personality in this sport and he is back with his much appreciated horse racing tips.1:15 Newmarket
"Ghost Run is the most likely winner. He was impressive when winning at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago and although he’s gone up 5lbs for that win, there’s still more to come off his mark of 85. Stall eight isn’t a bad draw either."
1:30 Haydock
"I’m not sold on many of these at the top of the market so I’ve landed on Navagio, who last won at Gowran Park in July 2023. He’s down to a mark of 88, which he can win off, especially on this soft ground that he likes. The tongue strap and cheekpieces are back on too."
1:50 Newmarket
"Rory tipped up Wimbledon Hawkeye at York last month so I was keen to watch him – and I was impressed when he finished second to The Lion In Winter in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes. I’m taking a chance on him improving on that run and he seems rock solid."
2:25 Newmarket
"Babouche and Lake Victoria both come here unbeaten. I thought the latter was ridden slightly negatively in her win in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh. Bedtime Story was the favourite that day and you can take a bit more from Lake Victoria’s win than just the result suggests. I’m not concerned about the drop in trip from 7f to 6f either."
2:35 Curragh
"I’m with Tennessee Stud for Joseph O’Brien. I was impressed with his win at Tipperary last time. He kept on really well and that form has held up. County Mayo was way back in fourth and he’s won since."
3:00 Newmarket
"I’m not Whistlejacket’s biggest fan but he looks so hard to beat for Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien. It’s as simple as that!"
3:15 Haydock
"I’ve landed on Changeofmind for Declan Carroll with Callum Shepherd on board. He was second in a handicap at Hamilton last month on soft ground so we know he will handle the conditions. He was off a mark of 89 that day and he’s now running off 90. He’s worth a go."
3:40 Newmarket
"This Songisforyou came from well off the pace to win at the Curragh last time but he’s too short in the market in this big-runner race. Bopedro came home really well at Doncaster last week when finishing second and he hasn’t got a penalty for that. His draw of stall 22 is good enough as well.Lion Of War is also worth keeping an eye on. He’s a huge price but he’s dropping down in trip which should suit. His second at Ascot last year was decent and while he hasn’t done much since, he’s worth an each-way shout."
Ruby Walsh’s Curragh Racing Tips for Saturday
13:45 Curragh
"Acapulco Bay for Ryan Moore andAidan O’Brien is unopposable in the opener after his debut run behind Delacroix. Simple!"
14:20 Curragh
"Dreamy was a good winner at Goodwood on debut over 7f and will appreciate the step up in trip to the mile now."
14:50 Curragh
"Ides Of March won well last time over this course and distance and a repeat performance is likely."
15:25 Curragh
"Johnny Murtagh’s Hanalia didn’t get the best passage in the Irish Oaks when sixth. She drops in trip and class now and can deliver."
16:00 Curragh
"Nyman looks interesting now upped in trip to 7f. She has a nice swing in the weights with Girl Like You, who beat her last time over 6f at this track."
16:35 Curragh
"I’ve liked State Actor for a while now and there’s plenty of improvement left to come from him yet! He’ll be part of my each-way double with Nikki Swango in the next."
17:10 Curragh
"TI’m going for one each-way at a price and that’s Nikki Swango. The Natalia Lupini stable are in much better form now and she can out-run her odds. Hopefully, State Actor has kept the each-way double live in the race before this."
