Chelsea v Arsenal betting preview
Chelsea have failed to score in three of their last five games at homeChelsea were beaten deep in stoppage time away to Newcastle at the weekend, ending a three-match unbeaten streak. The Blues have lost eight of their 23 Premier League matches during the 2019-20 campaign but are still fourth in the table, five points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United. Plus, Frank Lampard's men have lost three of their last five home games in the league, with West Ham United, Bournemouth and Southampton all leaving with three points. As to the reverse match, the Blues deserved to fight back and win 2-1 away to Arsenal between Christmas and New Year courtesy of goals from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham.
Frank Lampard is likely to make a number of changes in order to keep his side fresh, especially in midfield. The likes of Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley are aiming to win a starting berth with N'Golo Kantè and Mason Mount expected to make room. Callum Hudson-Odoi should again feature in the final third of the field alongside Willian and Tammy Abraham. The likes of Pedro and Michy Batshuayi provide further alternatives. Having sustained an injury last time out, Reece James may not be risked here and Emerson is in line to feature. Christian Pulisic and Marco van Ginkel are on the treatment table, while Marcos Alonso is set to return to the squad.
Arsenal have won just once in their last six Premier League outingsArsenal have been held by Sheffield United after going a goal up at the weekend. Mikel Arteta's men are unbeaten in four now across all competitions, as they previously beat Man Utd and Leeds at the Emirates, while producing 1-1 stalemates away at Palace. Anyway, they have just two league wins over the last 15 such contests (2-8-5), and sit 10th in the Premier League table. The Gunners have taken the lead in each of their last four league games, but squandered it in three. As to direct encounters, Arsenal have won only one of their last 11 away matches against Chelsea
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is serving a ban so Mikel Arteta will likely start with Alexandre Lacazette up front. Behind the Frenchman, there should be a trio formed by Mesut Ozil, Nicolas Pepe and the youngster Gabriel Martinelli. In midfield, Matteo Guendouzi is likely to replace Lucas Torreira. Dani Ceballos and Eddie Nketiah are further options for Arteta. With Kieran Tierney out and Sead Kolasinac an injury concern, Bukayo Saka may start at left-back again. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is favourite over Hector Bellerin for the right-back spot. Calum Chambers, Kieran Tierney and Reiss Nelson are still on the treatment table
