10/1 Liverpool or 22/1 Bayern Munich to win
Liverpool vs Bayern Munich betting preview
Liverpool have only lost once at home all season in all competitionsAfter dropping points in two successive Premier League matches, Liverpool returned to winning ways by beating Bournemouth 3-0 last time out. Klopp's men have lost four European away games in a row, including all three this term, so this will be a crucial match. Anyway, the Reds boast an enviable home record, for they are unbeaten in 11 Champions League matches at Anfield. This term, the 3-2 win over PSG could have been a wider margin, they put four past Crvena Zvezda, and beat 1-0 Napoli in the deciding match. Furthermore, Liverpool have lost just once in front of their own fans this season, a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup back in September.
Joe Gomez is sidelined while Virgil van Dijk is suspended. Jurgen Klopp has also said he is preparing to be without Dejan Lovren for the match as he is still recovering from a hamstring problem. That leaves the German manager little choice but to pair Joel Matip with Fabinho at the heart of the back. Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to return at left back. In midfield, Jordan Henderson will be flanked by Naby Keita and Georginjo Wijnaldum with James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri viable alternatives. No changes are expected up front, where Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Manè will lead the line.
Bayern are unbeaten in the last eight away matches in Champions LeagueBayern are in the midst of a mixed season under manager Niko Kovac and sit second in the Bundesliga standings, two behind leaders Borussia Dortmund albeit having played a game more than BVB. They struggled to overcome Augsburg on Friday night, twice coming from behind to beat 3-2 Augsburg. The Baviarians have been shaky at the back, as they are without a clean sheet in six matches since the turn of the year. Anyway, Bayern Munich enter this clash on the back of a run of nine wins in ten league matches, and they are still on course to win the DFB Cup.
Manuel Neuer proved his fitness last weekend and will start here. Kingsley Coman faces a late fitness test but Corentin Tolisso, Jerome Boateng and Arjen Robben will all miss out. Thomas Muller is suspended, so James Rodriguez and Serge Gnabry are likely to complete the offensive midfield trio behind the lone striker Robert Lewandowski. In midfield, Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara should feature from the off, altough Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich are pushing for a start. Kimmich is likely to start at right back, with David Alaba on the other side. Niklas Sule is safe to start as Jerome Boateng has not been included in the matchday squad.
