Group E Betting Preview
Spain comfortably won their qualifying group, amassing 26 points from ten games and scoring 31 goals. La Roja has bowed out of the last two major tournaments at the last-16 stage, most recently losing on penalties to Russia at the 2018 World Cup. They have only lost once in their last 19 outings - a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ukraine - but their Nations League campaign was below par. There are signs Luis Enrique’s hard work is paying off following some impressive displays over the last two years (a 6-0 success over Germany above all), despite the lack of a world-class forward.
Determining the runner-up is a hard task task as Sweden and Poland are hard to split (they are both 8/15 to advance) and Slovakia can't be ruled out.
Poland are the bookies' second favourites. Five years ago they did famously go out at the quarter-final stage of Euro 2016 without actually losing a game. Anyway, two years later they disappointed at the World Cup in Russia, finishing bottom of a group they had been favourites to win. The Polish team was also below par in the inaugural Nations League failing to win any of their four matches against Portugal and Italy. Poland won their Euro 2020 qualifying group. They recorded 8 victories in 10 qualifiers but a tally of 18 goals scored was not enough for Jerzy Brzeczek to save his job. Portuguese manager Paulo Sousa has been appointed in January and we expect a more offensive football from the Poles. Robert Lewandowski had another stellar season with Bayern and he should shine under Sousa.
Sweden qualified automatically for Euro 2020 as runners-up to Spain, a team they will re-face this summer. They only suffered a defeat - 3:0 away against La Roja - and almost managed to beat Luis Enrique's men in Solna when a last-gasp goal from Rodrigo gave Spain the 1-1 draw. The Swedes reached the quarter-finals at the 2018 World Cup, suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of England. Their Euro 2016 campaign saw them exiting at the first hurdle after recording a draw against Ireland and back to back defeats to Italy and Belgium. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was reportedly poised for an international recall this summer but the Swedish legend will miss the tournament because of an injury.
Slovakia finished third in qualifying Group E, behind Croatia and Wales, and only managed to qualify for the Euros after a 2-1 extra-time victory away to Northern Ireland in the Path B playoff final. Prior to that, the Slovaks also knocked Republic of Ireland out after a dramatic penalty shootout. They had a miserable time in Nations League B, Group Two – losing four of six games to seal relegation to League C.

Euro 2020 Group E Predictions
Spain finished five points above Sweden in qualifying and are expected to be too strong for the Scandinavians in their Group E opener. They have proven to be extremely solid defensively but Sergio Ramos's absence will be a huge blow. Poland have appointed an innovative managers such as Paulo Sousa earlier this year and it's hard to understand how they will adapt to a new style of play. Slovakia are the outsiders in Group E but they also were outsiders in their two previous major finals and managed to progress to the knockout stage both times. Spain are not the powerhouse they were few years ago, but we expect them to win the Group E as well. As to the "To Qualify" market, Sweden provide the best value.
Will Poland progress to knockout stage?
Poland (8/15 to qualify with BetVictor) have more quality than Sweden but they have recently sacked their manager and new coach Paulo Sousa will have few occasions to test and tune his team. Hence, they will probably fight with the Swedes for the places behind Spain. Since the group is very levelled, the third-placed team could fail to progress to the knockout stage. As a result, we recommend to cash out the "Poland to qualify" bet if they beat Slovakia in their opening game.
Will Spain win all three group stage matches?
Many expect Spain to walk into the knockout stages this summer having been handed a fairly kind draw for the group stages. They will have home advantage in all their three fixtures. After the iopening match against Sweden, Spain will face Poland and close their group stage against Slovakia. Despite they have too much quality for each of their group opponents, we expect Luis Enrique's men to collect 7 points, with Sweden and Poland main candidates to earn a draw against La Roja.
