ARSENAL v FC KOLN BETTING PREVIEW
It's been a pretty poor start to the Premier League campaign for Arsenal. A recent 4-0 defeat at Liverpool was the latest low point in a season that has also seen them lose at Stoke City, but the Arsene Wenger's men did stop the rot with a much-needed win over Bournemouth at the weekend. Arsenal have lost five of their last seven competitive home games against German opposition. This match will be their first ever Europa League group match.The hosts will be without Francis Coquelin, who is carrying a hamstring injury, while Santi Cazorla is months away from a return to match action. With a crucial derby clash against Antonio Conte's Chelsea coming in the league three days later, Wenger is expected to make wholesale changes to his side and David Ospina, Jack Wilshere, Olivier Giroud, Mohamed Elneny, Calum Chambers, Per Mertesacker, Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi could all benefit as a result.
After finishing fifth last term. FC Koln have made a terrible start to the new Bundesliga season and are rock bottom in the standings with 0 points from three matches. Peter Stöger's men have lost to Borussia Monchengladbach, Hamburg and Augsburg so far, shipping seven goals and managing to score just one. Thursday night’s match is the first competitive meeting against Arsenal. Cologne have won only two of their previous 12 competitive matches against English sides.
Highly-rated striker Artjoms Rudnevs will not be available but other than that head coach Peter Stoger has a clean bill of health. Marcel Risse and Milos Jojic have returned to training but they are likely to start from the bench as Simon Zoller and Marco Hoger will feature from the off. Frederik Sörensen was brought off at half time at the weekend and could be rested. Jhon Cordoba and Yuya Osako are expected to lead the line.
