Brazil vs South Korea Betting Preview
Having secured qualification to the knock-out stage after winning the first two matches against Serbia (2-0) and Switzerland (1-0), Brazil suffered a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon on the last match of the group stage and finished top of Group G on goal difference. A nine-game winning run has now come to a grinding halt for Brazil. Furthermore, they finished at the very bottom of their group in goals scored.
South Korea scored a 91st minute winner against Portugal (2-1) to finish second in Group H and send Uruguay home. In their previous outing, they recorded a goalless draw against Uruguay and suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Ghana. The Tigers of Asia have only ever managed to progress beyond the last 16 at the World Cup once, reaching the semi-finals of the 2002 edition amid a wave of officiating controversy.
As to direct encounters, the two sides have met seven times previously, but never at a World Cup. Brazil have won six times, with South Korea's only win coming in March 1999. The last time these two sides met, back in June 2022, Brazil hammered South Korea 5-1 in an international friendly.
According to UK betting sites, Brazil is a massive favorite against South Korea. Neymar & co. are 41/17 with VBet while South Korea are 12/1 to upset all the odds with Bet365. The draw is available at 19/4 with Unibet.
Probable Line-UpsBrazil (4-2-3-1): Alisson, Militao, Marquinhos, Silva, Danilo; Casemiro, Paqueta; Raphinha, Neymar, Vinicius; Richarlison.
Tite will make significant changes to his line up for the tie with South Korea having rested many regular starters against Cameroon. Anyway, Brazil have been rocked by the news that Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles have suffered injuries and will miss the remainder of the tournament. At least, the doctors provided a positive update on Neymar, who is in with a chance of recovering from an ankle injury in time to play at some stage here. The likes of Thiago Silva, Casemiro, Vinicius Jr, Richarlison and Alisson Becker are all set to return for this game.
South Korea (4-2-3-1): Kim Seung-gyu, Kim Moon-hwan, Kim Min-jae, Kim Young-gwon, Kim Jin-su; Hwang In-beom, Jung Woo-young; Hwang Hee-chan, Lee Kang-in, Son Heung-min, Cho Gue-sung.
Hwang hee-Chan will hope to lead the line for South Korea after his stunning winner against Portugal, but he is expected to be initially benched. Kim Min-jae was rested last time out due to calf discomfort and should now be fit enough to return to the first XI. Lee Kang-in and Kim Young-gwon were withdrawn in the last match but they should be fit to start.
Brazil v South Korea Predictions
Brazil has yet to look like its dominant self thus far in the tournament while South Korea have excelled in mentality and creativity, although their superstar Son Heung-min has yet to score during the tournament. If they can display the same attitude against tournament favorites Brazil, we don't expect a comfortable win for the Seleçao.
As a result, we back Brazil to win & Under 2.5 goals, with the correct score being a 2-0 or 1-0.
Richarlison might return to score after netting a brace in the opening match against Serbia. The Under 3.5 cards bet is also appealing.
