Tour De France Stage 18 Betting Tips, Predictions, Odds & Free Bets (Embrun > Valloire - 25.7.2019)
- Written by David Bet
The 18th stage of the Tour de France, a 208 km from Embrun to Valloire, is the first of three tough days in the Alps and will mark the first time that three 2000m+ cols will be ascended in a single stage. Find below our Tour De France STAGE 18 betting preview, best odds, expert tips on Winner & Head to Head, exclusive promo codes & no deposit free bets.
After summiting the last climb, riders will descend 17km into Valloire but probably things will be already decided. Given the time bonuses and the brutality of the Galibier, the GC battle is expected to be intense.
Julian Alaphilippe has four riders within two minutes and few seconds of his advantage as the Tour goes into three huge Alpine stages. The Frenchman struggled on the last stage in the Pyrenees and probably will be attacked by all other GC contenders. Luckily, he has a long descent to the finish working in his favor.
Anyway, riders like Steven Kruijswijk, Thibaut Pinot and Mikel Landa are more suited then the current yellow jersey on long and steep climbs, with Pinot looked the strongest climber so far..
Team Ineos has a double option, Egan Bernal and Geraint Thomas, although last year's winner is not brilliant like 12 months ago.
Emmanuel Buchmann is enjoying the best period of his career and no one knows his limits. Simon Yates has already won two tough stages and will go for the hat-trick.
Bauke Mollema, Rigoberto Uran, and Lennard Kamna are performing quite well but we don't expect them to be contenders for the stage win.
The likes of Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde should not pose a threat but could be precious for Mikel Landa alongside other Movistar riders. Dan Martin also is out of form, as well as Richie Porte.
We also expect to see a breakaway with big names. Adam Yates, Vincenzo Nibali, and Romain Bardet are good bets for riders trying to salvage their poor Tour so far.
Other viable candidate for the breakaway are Warren Barguil, Michael Woods, Fabio Aru and Pello Bilbao.

TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 18 BETTING PREVIEW
There are four climbs, each higher than the last, the final three topping out at 2,109 metres, 2,360 metres and 2,642 metres, respectively. The Col de Vars (9.3km at 7.5% average), Col d’Izoard (14km at 7.5% average), and Col du Galibier (23km at 5% average) mean that this stage has all the potential to be a true epic. An available time bonus on the summit of the Galiber will likely animate the race even more. After summiting the last climb, riders will descend 17km into Valloire but probably things will be already decided.
