The Oaks betting tips, predictions, odds and free bets (Epsom Downs - 5th June 2015)
- Written by Simon Bettarini
The Oaks is the 3rd Classic of the flat racing season and is run at Epsom Downs over one mile, 4 furlongs and 10 yards and – like the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket – it is open only to three-year-old fillies. The prestigious race is the equivalent to the Derby for female horses over the famous one and a half mile Epsom Downs racecourse. EPSOM OAKS BETTING PREVIEW
Legatissimo has shown a high level of ability in the 2015. She is now unbeaten in two runs, the latter which came at Newmarket in the 1000 Guineas. With plenty of stamina on the dam’s side, there is every chance this step back up in trip could suit
Crystal Zvezda is a winner of two of her three races to date. Her success in the Listed Haras De Bouquetot Fillies’ Trial Stakes at Newbury on seasonal debut was very impressive.
Jack Naylor won three times in her juvenile campaign, including a victory over Legatissimo over a mile at the Curragh. Then she was third in the French 1,000 Guineas, prior to finishing fourth in the Irish equivalent. This horse could improve at Epsom as she has a good stamina.
Together Forever won a Group 1 racee over 1m in October and returned with an excellent 2nd place behind Star Of Seville in York’s Oaks Trial (1m2f, good). She looked set to be beaten a long way there but rallied takingly to go down by just a head at the line.
Diamondsandrubies improved in each of her four career outings. She was a ready six length winner of the Cheshire Oaks over an eighth of a mile shy of the Epsom Oaks, having previously finished two lengths behind Irish 1000 Guineas fifth, Bocca Baciata, over a mile and a quarter.
Lady Of Dubai was a fine winner of the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood, but whilst she was impressive there will need a lot more here
Star Of Seville has moved up from a Class 5 maiden to a Class 3 conditions race to that Group 3 victory. She is a lovely big stamp of a filly and is sure to go on improving.
Jazzi Top showed a decisive turn of foot to take the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket last time out. She is extremely well-bred and looks a real trier.
Al Naamah is the French representative for Andre Fabre. She went t down a by a short neck when favourite for an extended 10-furlong Group Three at Saint-Cloud last month.
Bellajeu was held up excessively by Andrea Atzeni when second in the Lingfield Oaks Trial, and the Montjeu filly had to endure a wide trip around the bend. She made good progress in the straight and will be entitled to be fitter for her first outing of the season.
Qualify won a Group Three in September, before running down the field at the Breeders’ Cup. No chance in either the English or Irish Guineas and will have to improve markedly for the step up in trip.
