Roma recorded a win and a draw in their preseason so farRoma have already played two friendlies against lower league Italian opposition. After taking on Spurs, they will face current European Champions Real Madrid and La Liga title holders Barcelona.
The Giallorossi had fewer members of the squad involved in Russia this summer, with Aleksandar Kolarov and Federico Fazio both rejoining the squad already after the World Cup. New signings Javier Pastore and Justin Kluivert are expected to feature form the off, while Stephan El Shaarawy should watch the game as he is expected to move to Torino in the next few days. Cengiz Under and Edin Dzeko are likely to lead the line, with Diego Perotti likely to play in the second half.
Tottenham will play without key playersThis is Tottenham's first friendly of the summer schedule. The Spurs are the underdog for this match. A brief look at their squad for the trip to the States shows a squad heavy on development phase players. After this fixture against Italian opposition, theywill then take on another Serie A side in the shape of AC Milan as well as La Liga champions Barcelona, before heading back to Europe to take on another Spanish side in Girona. The two sides have never met in a competitive fixture but they have faced off once before, meeting in the 2017 International Champions Cup. Roma won 3-2
Spurs have travelled to the States with many of their big names still on holiday following their World Cup exploits. Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen will miss the game. With no new signings on the scene yet, Mauricio Pochettino is likely to give some game time to his youngsters. Vincent Janssen did not make the trip having been put up for sale.
