Real Madrid v Arsenal betting preview
Real Madrid have not started their preseason as team seems to lack chemistryReal Madrid were beaten 3-1 by Bayern Munich in their opening game of the International Champions Cup at the weekend. After trailing 3-0 in Houston, the one significant positive for Real was a consolation goal on his debut by their new £40million Brazilian teenage forward Rodrygo. After facing Arsenal, Zinedine Zidane's men will play a "friendly" Madrid derby agains Atletico on July 27. They will then face Tottenham in the semi-finals of the Audi Cup on July 30 ahead of either a final or third-placed playoff against Bayern Munich or Fenerbahce.
Zinedine Zidane changed his entire team at half time against Bayern and could adopt the same strategy here. Gareth Bale refused to play and is not expected to feature again for the Blancos. Summer signings Eden Hazard, Takefusa Kubo, Rodrygo Goes, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy are all expected to play. Nacho and Vinicius Junior are also expected to come into the starting XI, with the latter partnering Karim Benzema and Hazard up front. Marcos Asensio provide a further offensive option while Isco is likely to play in midfield with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos since Casemiro is still absent following his exertions for Brazil at the Copa America. Eder Militao is also unavailable.
Arsenal have opened their ICC tournament with back-to-back victoriesArsenal have beaten Bayern Munich (2-1) and Fiorentina (3-0) in the International Champions Cup so far, altough many of their star players are still missing. The Gunners could have an advantage in match fitness, considering that the Premier League is set to start on early August. Manager Unai Emery is still tinkering with defensive tactics and that department will again come under scrutiny this term. The North Londoners will face Lyon and Angers in their next two pre-season matches, before ending their preparations for the new campaign against Barca on August 4.
The likes of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are all set to come back into the starting lineup. Mesut Ozil is expected to complete the front trio while Henrikh Mhkitaryan will probably move back in midfield alongside Granit Xhaka and Joe Willock, another good youngster. Eddie Nketiah, who has scored three of Arsenal’s last four goals, will probably play in the second half as well as 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli.
