The 2025 French Open men's final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will start at 3:0pm local time (2.00pm BST) on June 8 on Roland-Garros' Court Philippe-Chatrier.

A perfect record for Jannik Sinner in this edition of Roland Garros so far. The Italian champion eased past of Novak Djokovic in the semifinals in three sets (6-4 7-5 7-6). The same treatment had been reserved in the previous rounds for Arthur Rinderknech, Richard Gasquet, Jiri Lehecka, Andrey Rublev and Alexander Bublik. Compared to the Internazionali d'Italia, a tournament in which Sinner was returning after a three-month ban, the world No. 1 seemed more physically brilliant and more confident in his shots. Despite some hiccups and understandable lapses in concentration, few times has a tennis player been seen to reach the final of Roland Garros in such a dominant way.

Carlos Alcaraz's path to the final has been more complicated than Sinner's. The world No. 2 conceded a set to Fabian Marozsan in the second round, Damir Dzumhur in the third round and Ben Shelton in the fourth. In the quarterfinals he won in straight sets over Tommy Paul, and then benefited from the withdrawal of Lorenzo Musetti in Friday's semifinal. Also against the Italian, Alcaraz lost the first set, only to impose himself in the next two (thanks also to Musetti's physical problems) - in the tie-break and then 6-0 in the third set.

For Jannik Sinner it will be the first Grand Slam final on clay. Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, is a clay specialist. The big two of modern tennis have faced each other 11 times: the Spaniard leads in head-to-head matches 7 to 4. The last direct encounter dates back to last month when Alcaraz won the final of the Internazionali d'Italia. Even in the three Grand Slam tournament matches, the Spaniard has a 2-1 lead, having won at Flushing Meadows in 2022 and in the semifinals right here in Paris last year (in the fifth set on both occasions). Sinner's only victory, on the other hand, dates back to Wimbledon 2022.

Sinner's physical condition has improved considerably compared to the Rome tournament when Alcaraz, after saving two set points in the first set, asserted his brilliance in the second set.
Even mentally the Italian tennis player seemed more solid than in the tournament at the Foro Italico so we expect an extremely levelled match this time. The world number one, however, will have to avoid a marathon against Alcaraz at all costs.
Another match in the fifth set could cost him dearly, in fact, considering that the Spaniard holds a record of 12-1 in Grand Slam tournament matches that are gone the distance. The only one to defeat him in a 5th set was anothr Italian - Matteo Berrettini in the third round of the Australian Open 2022. Alcaraz, in general, arrives at Sunday's final in Paris with on the back of nine consecutive victories in matches that reach the fifth set.
In our opinion, Sinner will break the series of 4 defeats against Alcaraz and win the first Roland Garros title of his career.
To do so, however, he will have to avoid going to the decisive set and, above all, he will have to improve the percentage on the first service ball. So far the percentages have been very low but this has only partially affected the outcome of the matches given Sinner's superiority over his opponents. Alcaraz, however, is on another level and to defeat him it will take more incisiveness in the serve.
Confident that the Italian will further raise his level of play, we bet on Sinner winning 3-1. One of these sets, according to our experts, will end in a tie break. In the 11 previous matches between these two tennis players, in fact, 9 have seen at least one set end in a tie-break.
