Chelsea vs Tottenham Betting Preview
Chelsea enter this match on the back of a lethargic 1-1 draw against Brighton in midweek. Over the last nine Premier League outings, the Blues have won just twice and collected 11 points from a possible 27. They are also struggling in defense in recent times as the 0-0 draw at Wolves before Christmas is the only shutout they have had across their previous 11 league matches. These two teams have already met twice this year in the after the two-legged League Cup semifinal. Thomas Tuchel’s side enjoyed the better, claiming a comprehensive 3-0 aggregate success. The Blues have also won their last four games against Spurs in all competitions, including a 3-0 success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in September,
Tottenham are just eight points behind Chelsea with four games in hand. Antonio Conte's men miraculously snatched a win out of the jaws of defeat midweek against Leicester, beating the Foxes 3-2 after trailing 2-1 with the clock reading 94:52 played. The Italian manager boasts an undefeated league record since he took charge in North London, having claimed six wins and three draws. Furthermore, Harry Kane appears to have rediscovered his groove, scoring in four of his last five league appearances.
Probable Line-Ups
Chelsea (4-2-2-2): Kepa; Alonso, Silva, Rudiger, Azpilicueta: Kante, Kovacic; Mount, Werner; Lukaku, Havertz
Chelsea have been boosted by the news that Trevor Chalobah and Reece James have both returned to training and could be considered for selection on Sunday. Andreas Christensen (COVID-19) and Edouard Mendy (international duty) are still missing, as well as the long-term absentee Ben Chilwell. This leaves Thomas Tuchel with a decision on whether to go with a 3-4-2-1 or the 4-2-2-2 . Mateo Kovacic will be pushing for a recall in midfield alongside N'Golo Kantè while Timo Werner and Mason Mount should play behind the front duo formed by Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz. The likes of Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi provide further options.
Tottenham (3-5-2): Lloris; Sanchez, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Skipp, Winks, Hojbjerg, Reguilon; Kane, Lucas Moura
Eric Dieris back in the frame for the third match against Chelsea in the space of a few weeks but Cristian Romero and Heung Min Son are still sidelined. Emerson Royal is a major doubt, meaning that Matt Doherty could start as right wing-back. Sergio Reguilon is another Spurs asset whose fitness has been monitored a lot of late (Ryan Sessegnon or even Steven Bergwijn could deputise if he misses out) while a midfield five may include both Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp alongside Pierre-Emile Hojberg. Bergwijn could also be in contention with Lucas Moura for a place up front.
Best Odds
Chelsea are favourites to make the treble over the Spurs, with Betfred pricing the Blues 4/5 for a win. Tottenham are backable at 17/4 with Betvictor for the away win. The draw has 14/5 as the best price at Bet365.Looking for price boosts? Take a look below...
Our Chelsea vs Tottenham Predictions
The Blues have seen their title hopes disappear in recent weeks. Anyway, even amid their poor stretch, Thomas Tuchel's men hung tough with Liverpool in a 2-2 draw and narrowly lost to Manchester City, 1-0. The Blues lost just five times at home in all of 2021, with two coming at the hands of Pep Guardiola's men. Tottenham have won just five of their 15 competitive away games this season, so we go for a Chelsea narrow win here. 1-0 and 2-1 are our picks in the correct score market while Mason Mount's odds as anytime goalscorer are appealing..
