Chelsea vs Liverpool betting preview
Chelsea are currently 5th in the Premier League table, and a win here will be pivotal if they are to move back into UEFA’s premier competition next season. The Blues head into the fixture off the back of a 4-1 win over Djurgardens in their Europa Conference League semi-final first leg in Sweden. That victory came after back-to-back Premier League triumphs over Fulham and Everton.
Liverpool confirmed their title with a 5-1 home victory over Tottenham last weekend. They are unbeaten in three games, with their last loss coming against Fulham and being just their second defeat of the season. The Reds have the best away record in the Premier League so far, having taken thirty-eight points from a possible fifty-one,
As to direct encounters, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 10 games against Chelsea (W7 D3). The Merseysiders won 2-1 the previous match against the Blues thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones, either side of Nicolas Jackson's equaliser.
Best Odds
The best football betting sites are all siding with Chelsea for the win at 6/5 (2.20), while you can get 23/10 (3.30) on Liverpool securing their 26th league win of the season or 14/5 (3.80) on another draw between the two sides.
Probable Line-Ups
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Gusto, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson
Enzo Maresca was able to rest several key players in their Conference League match in Sweden. Cole Palmer came off the bench, as too Moises Caicedo, while Noni Madueke, Marc Cucurella, Reece James, and Enzo Fernandez were all taken off at halftime. They are all expected to start here. Malo Gusto is a doubt, and the Frenchman is set for a late fitness test after picking up a thigh issue against Everton. Nicolas Jackson snapped a 13-game goalless streak with Chelsea last time out and is likely to lead the line.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Elliott, Gakpo; Diaz
Liverpool have a relatively clear injury list as only Joe Gomez remains out with a long-term hamstring injury. Arne Slot will likely starting to use the fringe players who have predominantly been spectators this season. Conor Bradley will likely return after miss the game against Spurs - he is in contention with Trent Alexander-Arnold for the a starting berth as right back. Kostas Tsimikas should start as left-back, with Jarell Quansah partnering Virgil Van Dijk as centre-back. Up front, Harvey Elliott could feature from the off, alongside Mo Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz. The likes of Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez provide further alternatives.
Chelsea v Liverpool Betting Tips
Chelsea have rediscovered form in recent months and just one loss from their last eight has propelled them back into contention for a top-four finish. They have won six of their last seven league games at Stamford Bridge despite Cole Palmer's goal drought. The former Man City starlet has not scored or assisted in 18 games.
Liverpool have no notable accolades to be claimed besides Mohamed Salah extending his lead in the Golden Boot race.
Despite that, we believe that the Reds will earn at least a draw at the Bridge.
A 2-1 Liverpool win is the outcome we pick in the Correct Score market, while both teams to score is another recommended bet.
As to players, we back Moises Caicedo to have 3+ tackles and Harvey Elliott to have a shot on target.
