Chelsea v Real Madrid Betting Preview
Chelsea were stunned by Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of their west London rivals despite initially leading through Antonio Rudiger. That result ended a six match winning streak in all competitions. Thomas Tuchel's men sit third in the Premier League standings, well behind Man City and Liverpool and 5 points ahead fourth placed teams Tottenham and Arsenal. The Blues are undefeated in 10 of their last 11 Champions League matches. They have comfortable knocked Ligue 1 outfit Lille out in the last 16 round, winning 4-1 on aggregate.
Real Madrid bounced back from their 4-0 drubbing at the hand of their bitter rivals Barcelona last week with a 2-1 victory at Celta Vigo on Saturday. They remain top of La Liga standings and are few wins away from securing another title, boasting a 12 points lead over Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona (who have one game in hand). Similarly to Chelsea, that loss in El Clasico was their only defeat in the last 7 games (W6 D0). In their last 16 round, the Blancos suffered a 1-0 away defeat against PSG and went 1-0 down at home, but Karim Benzema scored a terrific hat-trick and sent his team into the quarter finals.
These two teams last met in the 2020/21 Champions League semi-finals, Chelsea recorded a 1-1 draw in Spain and a 2-0 win in London en route to lift the cup few weeks later in the Champions League final against Manchester City.
Best Odds
The Blues are favourites to beat the Blancos at Stamford Bridge, with STS pricing them at 5/4. The draw is available at 5/2 with Unibet with the same bookmaker offering the best price for Real Madrid to win at 29/10.

Chelsea (3-4-3): Mendy; Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic
Reece James's return to fitness is sure to lead Tuchel to consider a switch to a three-man central defence, with Cesar Azpilicueta joining Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger at the back. Marcos Alonso will start on the left side, since Ben Chilwell is still out trhough injury. Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi are major doubts but the American is expected to feature upfront alongside Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech. The likes of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner will be initially benched.
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy; Kroos, Casemiro, Modric; Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius Junior
Eden Hazard will be forced to miss out on a reunion with his former club due to an injury. Other absentees are Isco and Luka Jovic while Ferland Mendy and Casemiro are available after served their suspension. Karim Benzema will spearhead the attack as usual, with Vinicius Junior on his left flank. Marco Asensio is expected to start on the right flank, but Rodrygo is also an option for Carlo Ancelotti. At the back, David Alaba is expected to play as centre back and partner Eder Militao.
Our Chelsea v Real Madrid Predictions
The sale process underway to transfer Chelsea to new owners has been considerably distracting for Thomas Tuchel and his players. The visitors - who look set to be without ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti again in west London due to Covid - have talent and experience to leave London unbeaten. We predict a cagey first-leg draw, with 1-1 our favourite scoreline. Karim Benzema to score anytime and Under 2.5 are additional bets we strongly recommend.
