Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol 3 Betting Preview
Canelo Alvarez (57-1-2) is the undisputed champion at 168 pounds, but he has picked up belts at 154 and 160. He has lost only to Mayweather in his career (a controversial majority decision), when the Mexican was only 23 years old. Canelo hasn’t fought since his victory against Caleb Plant to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion last December. Thirty-nine of 57 beaten foes failed to hear the final bell, including Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders and Avni Yildirim since the beginning of 2021. He ventures up to 175 for the second time in three years after a 2019 demolition of Sergey Kovalev.
Canelo is using on the crest of a wave and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime quickly, making him a tough man to beat beneath any circumstances. The clinics he put on Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant last year emphasized that Alvarez is the total package. He is relentless. As soon as he has his opponent harm, he makes them pay and barely lets them off.
Dmitry Bivol is 31 years old, has a 19-0 record and 11 knockouts. He is a six-time gold medalist. The Russian fighter beat Felix Valera in 2016 to win the interim WBA light heavyweight title, was promoted to Regular champion in 2017, and has defended the belt five times (three of them as Super champion). His last fight was a win over Umar Salamov in December. Prior to that, he beat on points Craig Richards and Lenin Castillo. He is not a heavy hitter, as evidenced by six straight 12-round decisions since his last win by stoppage four years ago.
The undefeated Russian is a sharp boxer, but he has never faced an opponent as good as Alvarez. Bivol does not make a lot of mistakes, fights at a disciplined pace, but sticks too closely to one singular plan. Furthermore, he lacks strong head movement (something very dangerous against Canelo) and seldom targets the body. A key positive for Bivol is that he holds a height advantage of three inches over Canelo and a two-inch reach advantage.

Ready for our Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol tips?
Bivol has advantages in height and reach and is technically proficient enough to make Canelo's night a tough one. He may emerge victorious in a few rounds, but we don't expect Bivol springing an upset here. Anyway, we don't see an early finish. Alvarez tends to come on stronger as the fight progresses and the Russian has never been stopped or hurt in a bout. Hence, the fight could be decided in the last 4 rounds after the usual demolition job by Canelo.
