Manchester UTD v Arsenal betting preview

Man UTD are on a three-match winless run in the league

Manchester UTD are eight points behind Arsenal and 16 points off league leaders Man City in the Premier League table. They trailed 2-0 at Southampton on Saturday but rescued a point thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Ander Herrera. Prior to that, the Red Devils suffered a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City and drew against Crystal Palace. Another defeat for the Red Devils would leave Mourinho with just two wins from seven Premier League matches and, more importantly, lead to the club being at least nine points behind the top four. United's home record against Arsenal in the Premier League in the last 11 seasons is mightily impressive (W8 D3 L0)

Jose Mourinho faces a defensive crisis ahead of this clash. Ashley Young is suspended for the hosts while Luke Shaw will be assessed after picking up knocks at the weekend. Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian and Eric Bailly are also major doubts, while Victor Lindelof is definitely out with a groin problem. It means Mourinho could be forced to line up with Diogo Dalot, Nemanja Matic, Marcos Rojo and Scott McTominay at the back. Up front, Alexis Sanchez is out until the New Year while Romelu Lukaku is not 100% fit and could be replaced by Anthony Martial. The Frenchman is likely to partner Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard in attack. Furthermore,  Mourinho was reportedly left reeling from Paul Pogba's performance against Southampton and it would not be a shock if the United manager benched the former Juventus midfielder.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 19 matches in all competitions

Arsenal are fresh off an impressive 4-2 victory over Tottenham in Sunday's North London derby. They are unbeaten in all competitions since August and have scored 9 goals in the last three outings. Furthermore, Unai Emery's men  boast the league's best goal-scoring record on the road this season. As to direct encounters, Arsenal have struggled on the road against Man UTD. The Gunners don't win at Old Trafford since 2006. They have lost eight and won none of their last 11 league visits to this ground.

Granit Xhaka is banned while Mesut Ozil is unlikely to be available having missed the last two games with a back spasm. Hence, Matteo Guendouzi could step in to play alongside Lucas Torreira in the middle of the park. Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan started behind Aubameyang on Sunday, but Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette are likely to partner the Gabonese striker up front. Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac are expected to retain their berth as wing back while Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis and Rob Holding should form the three man backline.
