Manchester City go into the weekend 11 points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool and they have already lost 3 match in 15 games so far. They responded to last weekend's disappointing 2-2 draw with Newcastle with an emphatic 4-1 win away to Burnley on Tuesday. That win came after a run of only one win in their last five league and cup games. Plus, the Citizens have gone eight games without a clean sheet in all competitions. Recent games against Manchester United have seen City win four of the last five league meetings. Just one of the last eight competitive encounters between this pair has resulted in a draw.

Oleksandr Zinchenko could be in contention to return to the squad following knee surgery in October while it’s unlikely that Sergio Aguero is going to be fit to start. Gabriel Jesus is likely to retain his berth as central striker, flanke by Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez. In midfield, David Silva should get the nod over Bernardo Silva and start alongside Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne. Ilaky Gundogan, who is back from suspensio, provides a valid alternative. At the back, Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy are favourites over Joao Cancelo and Angelino for the full backs spots. Johns Stones and Fernandiho should form the centre-back pari. Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sanè are the long-term injuries.

Manchester United are struggling to find form and consistency this year. They climbed to sixth in the table after beating Tottenham at home on Wednesday, within two points of fifth-placed Wolves. The pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eased but losing the Manchester Derby would be a big shock. The Red Devils have a respectable record against the better sides they’ve faced this term – Chelsea (twice), Wolves, Leicester, Arsenal, Liverpool & Spurs – winning four of their seven unbeaten outings across all competitions. Defense remains a concern as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have conceded in each of the last 10 league fixtures.

Paul Pogba is not expected to make his return from injury, leaving Solskjaer short of options in the middle of the park. Scott McTominay and Fred should feature from the off, while Nemanja Matic could also make the matchday squad. Up front, Anthony Martial is a major doubt and could be replaced by Mason Greenwood. The youngster will be supported by Daniel James, Marcus Rashford and one between Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard. In defense, Luke Shaw or Ashley Young will start at left-back on Saturday, with Brandon Williams expected to settle for a place on the bench. Viktor Lindelof should partner Harry Maguire at the heart of the back. Eric Bailly, Marcus Rojo and Diogo Dalot remain out through injury.
