Leicester vs Aston Villa Betting Preview
Leicester have won all of their home matches since February 27
Leicester City can afford to have a serious crack at both FA Cup and EFL Cup as they have a 14-point buffer in the Premier League top four and no European football to distract them. Brendan Rodgers’ team continued their good form on the weekend with a 2-0 third round FA Cup win over Wigan. It was their third victory in a row after back to back defeats in the league against Man City (3-1 at Etihad) and Liverpool (0-4 at home). As to this competition, the Foxes reached the semifinals by beating on penalties after drawing in normal time at Newcastle and Everton. In between, they won 4-0 at Luton and 3-1 away to Burton. Leicester beat Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park in a Premier League tussle earlier in the season.Jamie Vardy remains a doubt for this one due to a calf problem. Should he miss out, Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to lead the line, supported by Ayoze Perez and Harvey Barnes out wide, and James Maddison in the number ten position. Wilfried Ndidi and Yuri Tielemans will anchor the midfield while Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu, Ben Chilwell and Ricardo Pereira should start at the back. Danny Ward is expected to leave his status as the 'cup goalkeeper' to first-choice keeper Kasper Schmeichel. The likes of Filip Benkovic and Wes Morgan were both forced off with injury in Saturday’s FA Cup match and joined Matty James on the sidelines.
Aston Villa have recorded just one win, one draw and six defeats in the last 8 away matches
Aston Villa are battling relegation from the Premier League as they currently sit 17th in the table, just one point above Bournemouth. The Villans enter this clash on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Fulham in the FA Cup 3rd round at the weekend and a pivotal 2-1 win at Burnley on New Year's Day. They thrashed Liverpool's second-string in the last round of the FA Cup, as the Reds' senior players were involved in the FIFA Club World Cup. Prior to that, they started their EFL Cup campaign with a 6-1 romp at Crewe, before winning 3-1 at Brighton and then edging out Wolves 2-1 on home turf.Dean Smith rested several of his regular starters in FA Cup but a stronger team is expected at King Power Stadium. The manager will welcome back the likes of Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings. The former will complete the offensive trio with Trezeguet and Jonathan Kodjia. The latter will form a three man backline alongside Ezri Konsa and Kortney Hause. In midfield, Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba should feature from the off. The likes of Jed Steer, Tom Heaton, Matt Targett, John McGinn and Wesley make up an extensive injury list for the visitors. As a result, Orjan Nyland will play in goal.
