Leeds v Derby County betting preview

Leeds have only lost two of their last 17 Championship games at Elland Road (W11-D5-L2)

Since their Boxing Day success over Blackburn, Leeds have suffered a setback. After winning seven games on the spin, they are now on a three-match losing streak across all competitions, conceding eight goals in doing so. The Whites suffered a 0-2 home defeat against Hull City and a 4-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest. Marcelo Bielsa's men also lost out in the FA Cup Third Round last weekend, crashing out at QPR (2-1). As to direct matches, Leeds comfortably dispatched of Derby at Pride Park, beating them 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Stuart Dallas and Gaetano Berardi both miss out through injury while Kalvin Phillips is suspended. Hence, Finnish defender Aapo Halme could be called in to deputise. The hosts are also without goalkeeper Jamal Blackman and forward Patrick Bamford. As a result, Kemar Roofe is expected to spearhead the attack in a 4-1-4-1 system, with Adam Forshaw anchoring the midfield and the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Ezgjan Alioski, Jack Clark and Mateusz Klich behind the lone forward.

Derby County look to further consolidate their play-off place

Derby have just one win in their last six games (W1-D4-L1) in all competitions. Anyway, Frank Lampard's side sits just six points shy of the top two, so their hopes of making it into the Premier League through automatic promotion stay strong. The Rams were 2-0 down after 48 minutes against Southampton in the FA Cup last weekend, needing a late rally to force a replay. As to previous encounters between these two teams, Derby have won five of their last nine league matches at Elland Road against Leeds (D2 L2)

The visitors almost have full squad available for the trip to Elland Road - a big positive for Lampard. Only Curtis Davies, Mason Bennett and Craig Forsyth remain ruled out for the Rams. There are some fitness doubts over Wilson but Duane Holmes has been impressing in the Welshman's absence and could lead the line alongside Jack Marriott and Florian Jozefzoon. Tom Huddlestone is pushing for a start here after missing out against Middlesbrough. He should join Mason Mount and George Evans in the middle of the park.
