Juventus v Tottenham betting preview
Juventus begin life under former Chelsea manager Maurizio SarriThe summer of 2019 has been one of major change for Juventus. The most significant shift of all for the club has been the appointment of manager Maurizio Sarri, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri. They will follow the Tottenham clash by taking on fellow Italian side Inter Milan in Nanjing on July 24 - then the Bianconeri will face the K-League All Stars in Seoul two days later before challenging Atletico Madrid in Sweden on August 10. As to direct encounters, Juventus and Tottenham last met in the last-16 stage of the 2017-18 Champions League. After a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Turin, the Italian champions won 2-1 in London to make the quarter-finals.
New record signing Matthijs De Ligt is expected to play few minutes in the 2nd half. Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have both joined on a free transfer from Arsenal and PSG respectively, but the Welshman is still recovering from his injury. The Old Lady also acquired Roma’s Luca Pellegrini, with Leonardo Spinazzola going the other way, and Sassuolo’s Merih Demiral. Plus, Gianluigi Buffon has rejoined the club from Paris Saint-Germain and Gonzalo Higuain has returned from a loan spell at Chelsea. Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to lead the line, flanked by Federico Bernardeschi and Mario Mandzukic. The likes of Juan Cuadrado, Moise Kean, Alex Sandro, Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini are absent for Sarri's side.
Tottenham are yet to register a win against Juventus in all competitionsTottenham return to full competitive action after losing the Champions League final against Liverpool last May. Spurs will take on Manchester United next week, before facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Audi Cup on July 30. They will face Aston Villa at home in ther 2019/20 Premier League opener on August 10. The Lilywhites have made just one signing so far this summer, as Tanguy Ndombele was the club’s first signing since Lucas Moura in January 2018. More new signings are expected before the window closes, with midfielder Giovani Lo Celso one of the main targets and Fernando Llorente reportedly head back to Spurs on a one-year contract.
Kieran Trippier is set to leave the club for Atletico Madrid, so there could be a "hole" at right back. Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters will start as full backs, with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld paired at the centre. Harry Kane is expected to lead the line with support from Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min. Speculation surrounding Christian Eriksen's future at the club means that the Dane should be rested. Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez and Victor Wanyama are also not with the party, with all three given extra time off following their international commitments this summer. Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Vincent Janssen and Danny Rose are unavailable.
