Inter are eager to put an end to Juve’s dominance in the Italian top flight

Inter Milan go into the weekend one point clear of Juventus after they beat 2-1 SPAL at the weekend. That was their 6th victory in the last 7 Serie A fixtures (W6 D1). The Nerazzurri have only failed to win two of their 14 league outings and their only defeat came against Juventus. Since that defeat to the Old Lady at the San Siro in October, Inter have taken 19 points from a possible 21. Antonio Conte's men have the best defensive record of the league at home but they only kept one clean sheet in the last 8 games overall.

Conte will be without important midfielder Roberto Gagliardini, who joins Nicolò Barella and Stefano Sensi in the injury list. As a result, Borja Valero is expected to feature from the off, flanked by Marcelo Brozovic and Matias Vecino. Up front, with Alexis Sanchez still injured, Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku will lead the line. The deadly pair have already scored 18 goals in Serie A this term. Antonio Candreva and Cristiano Biraghi should start as wing backs while Diego Godin is favourite over Alessandro Bastoni and Danilo D'Ambrosio to partner Stefan De Vrij and Milan Skriniar at the back.

Roma have won four, drawn two and lost just one of seven away league matches

Roma are also playing well and have won five of their last six Serie A matches - their only defeat came against Parma (2-0 at the Stadio Tardini). They Giallorossi are sitting just two points behind third-placed Lazio and nine behind the league leaders. After beating Brescia at the Stadio Olimpico in the league and Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey in the UEFA Europa League, Paulo Fonseca's men recorded an impressive 3-1 win at Verona last time out. As to direct encounters, both matches ended in draws last season – after a 2-2 stalemate in Rome a year ago, the pair drew 1-1 in Milan in April.

Roma's injury list is notably more severe. Davide Zappacosta, Bryan Cristante, Javier Pastore, Patrick Kluivert and Federico Fazio are all out through injury while Edin Dzeko has recovered from illness just in time to feature at San Siro. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Diego Perotti are pushing for a start, but Nicolò Zaniolo, Cengiz Under and Lorenzo Pellegrini are favourite to support the Bosnian in attack. The likes of Jordan Veretout and Amadou Diawara are likely to anchor the midfield while no changes are expected in the four man backline with Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling, Aleksandr Kolarov and Leonardo Spinazzola all playing from the off.
