What is the FA Cup

The FA Cup is England's longest and proudest competition. It was first played during the 1871–72 season, and as a result it is the oldest association football competition in the world. The FA Cup is a knockout tournament and involves all of the teams currently playing in all 4 divisions of the English Football League (Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two), along a host of non-league clubs. FA Cup winners automatically qualify for the first round of the Europa League. Traditionally the FA Cup Final always takes place in May and is held at Wembley Stadium. Arsenal are the most successful club in the FA Cup history, winning a total of 13 FA Cup competitions.

It is very hard to predict as Premier League teams often opt to rest their best players for the top flight, while Championship, League One and League Two clubs go full force to get visibility and TV coverage. It’s the competition where anything can happen. Giant killings are very frequent but our tipsters are good enough to avoid this kind of upsets and even correctly predict a correct score or two.

BetAndSkill tipsters bring you our FA Cup predictions a few days before each round to make sure you receive the most up-to-date odds. We cover the competition from the First Round Proper right through to the final. Suggested Emirates FA Cup odds come from across very reliable bookmakers on the web. We also combine our betting predictions with our favourite free bets, enhanced odds and promotions, so you can make the most of your FA Cup betting.

FA Cup Biggest Upsets

The FA Cup always provides excitement, as people chance their arm and take a punt on the butchers, bakers and candlestick makers to beat the multi-millionaire superstars.

Every year is no different and the Third Round has the opportunity for plenty of shocks on the cards as Premier League clubs rest their key players for top flight games.

We are sure we will see League One, League Two and even Non League teams make their home advantage count and cause major upset in a FA Cup game or two, and qualify for the next round.

But what are the biggest shocks in the Third Round history? Take a look at the biggest upsets and giant-killers of the competition!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FA Cup?

The FA Cup is one of the most famous cup competitions in the world football. Founded back in 1871, it is an English knockout football competition which pits together teams from different divisions, from Premier League clubs to the lowest ranked side clubs from the National League North and National League South.

How does the FA Cup work this year?

The FA Cup takes place throughout the English football season, starting with the preliminary rounds in August, welcoming EFL clubs from League One and Two in November, adding Premier League and Championship teams in January and then reaching the final in May. The tournament is in a knock-out format, with only one leg being played between each team. Due to worries over fixture congestion, there are no FA Cup replays this year. Games go into extra time if level after 90 minutes, then if still a stalemate it's time for a penalty shoot-out. Interestingly, there is no seeding in the draw, which makes the FA Cup more unpredictable.

When is the FA Cup final?

The 2022 final will take place on Saturday 14 May at Wembley. The kick-off time is usually confirmed in April. It will be shown on BBC One.

Which are the most popular FA Cup betting markets?

When it comes to FA Cup betting, there are plenty of markets that lend themselves to the action, making for a far more entertaining online betting experience.
The most interesting markets are:
- To qualify
- Match Result (Home Team Win/Draw/Away Team Win)
- Over/under 2.5 goals
- Both teams to score
- Both teams to score and win
- Double chance
- Goalscorers
- Players to be carded
- Team to keep a clean sheet
- Team to score first
- Will the match go to Extra-Time?
