England v Panama betting preview
England will aim to record a big win to match Belgium's goal differenceEngland won 2-1 Monday’s brawl against Tunisia thanks to the golden touch of Harry Kane, who scored a brace, in the stoppage-time. The Tottenham striker Kane has now scored 10 of England’s last 15 goals when he’s been on the pitch, all in the space of eight games. The Three Lions' dominance was evident in the stats, enjoying 61% of the ball, while they had 18 shots, of which eight were on target. A win over World Cup debutants Panama would send England to the knockout stage before to gight for the top spot against Belgium.
Gareth Southgate is reportedly contemplating replacing Raheem Sterling with Marcus Rashford for their second group game. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is likely to start from the off, replacing Dele Alli who picked up a thigh strain against Tunisia and is expected to miss out here. Kyle Walker was the weakest piece of the three-man back line and he could be replaced in the second round clash by the experienced Cahill. Jordan Henderson will likely start as a defensive midfielder once again, while Jesse Lingard might lose his place in the starting line-up.
Panama looked the weakest team of the tournamentPanama suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium in their opening match, altough they were 0-0 at half-time. They only scored nine times in 10 qualifying games in CONCACAF group, conceding 10 times, meaning it is clear that they are a side that relies on their defence. This is the first meeting, competitive or otherwise, between Panama and England.
Roman Torres overcame a slight knock to face Belgium in their group opener and will be fine to continue here. As a result, we expect the head coach Hernan Gomez to use the same side that that played Belgium in the first fixture. Blas Perez is expected to spearhead the attack, with Edgar Barcenas and Jose Luis Rodriguez out wide.
