CORAL CUP BETTING PREVIEW 

Sandwiched between the more prestigious Coral Cup and the feature race of the second day of the Cheltenham Festival, the Queen Mother Champion Chase, the Coral Cup is one of the toughest races to solve at the Cheltenham Festival. It's a Grade 3 handicap hurdle covering two miles and five furlongs, for horses aged four years and upwards. Many horses come into the race looking well handicapped and those horses all seem to have obvious chances of winning.

Who will win the Coral Cup 2024?

SA MAJESTE is the odds-on favourite with the best hors racing betting sites for the Coral Cup after beating 2022 Grand National winner Noble Yeats off level weights at Limerick over the Christmas period. With two runs over hurdles in France and two for Willie in Ireland he’s qualified for the handicap hurdles and remains dangerously unexposed.

Last year's winner LANGER DAN stayed strong in the closing stages to deny An Epic Song to claim his first Cheltenham win and now will try to retain his crown by the same mark.

DODDIETHEGREAT is lightly raced (2/4 over hurdles) but will be a potential contender for sure as he looks to be Henderson's first string this season. He was last seen in the Betfair Hurdle where he came home a strong finishing 4th behind Iberico Lord.

BUILT BY BALLYMORE was an impressive winner of maiden hurdle at Limerick in November. Then he he comfortably beat four previous winners in a novice hurdle at Punchestown last time out.  Martin Brassil's charge definetely looks capable of running a huge race here.

Gordon Elliott's JIGORO is well supported in the betting. He is a lightly-raced Navan maiden hurdle winner who has been placed in two outings since behind useful horses such as Mystical Power and Tullyhill.

Dark Horses?

BALLYADAM has Cheltenham pedigree. He finished runner-up in the Supreme in 2021 and recordd successive fifth-place finishes in the County Hurdle since. He was recenlty seen when third behind Irish Point in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle.

Nicky Henderson's FIRST STREET has twice run well in the County Hurdle here, including second to the mighty State Man in 2022. He has undergone a wind op since finishing third behind Lossiemouth on Trials Day here.

Henderson also has LUCKY PLACE, who has been progressive in four hurdles starts, winning a 2m3½f Doncaster novice in December in fine style and finishing runner-up in both races since then.

Harry Fry's has entered MIGHT I, who finished a good fourth in the Martin Pipe here twelve months ago and is rated 3lb lower now.

BRAZIL was soundly beaten last month at Leopardstown but can't be underestimated as he beat Gaelic Warrior in the Boodles Handicap Hurdle two years ago. He might have targeted this race.

Willie Mullins' SHANBALLY KID and LOMBRON, as well as Nigel Twiston-Davies' GUARD YOUR DREAMS can't be ruled out for a top 3 placement.
