Chelsea boast a superb record at Stamford Bridge with only 1 defeat in 19 games

Chelsea continue their defence of the cup after overcoming Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the previous round on home soil. The Blues booked their place in the Carabao Cup final with a penalty shootout victory over Spurs on Thursday, after winning 2-1 in regular time. Prior to that, they suffered a disappointing defeat at Arsenal (2-0) in the Premier League. The Blues have kept a hugely impressive 7 clean sheets in their most recent 10 games at Stamford Bridge and have lost just one game in front of their own supporters this term.

Gonzalo Higuain could be set to make his debut after joining on loan from Juventus. The Argentine will be probably flanked by Callum Hudson-Odoi and William, with Pedro and Hazard sitting on bench. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has returned to training after a back problem, but the England international is only likely to be named among the substitutes. As a result, Ethan Ampadu is expected to join Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kantè in the middle of the park, with Jorginho and Ross Barkley viable alternatives. Second choice goalkeeper WIlly Caballero and central defender Andreas Christensen are likely to feature from the off.

Sheffield Wed have lost just one of their last six league matches and are currently 16th in the Championship. Caretaker coaches Lee Bullen and Steve Agnew have done a decent job since stepping in for Jos Luhukay, who was sacked last month. Anyway, their distinct lack of firepower has been a major feature of their play, despite their positive overall results. The Owls scored just 6 goals on their way to securing 4 wins and 3 draws from their last 8 fixtures.  They needed a replay to find their way past League One high-flyers Luton Town in the previous round, following a goalless draw against Luton in round three at Hillsborough.

The visitors will be without defender Michael Hector - who is unable to feature against his parent club - while Matt Penney faces a spell on the sidelines after undergoing shoulder surgery. Joshua Onomah also remains absent and will return to training next week. Atdhe Nuhiu and Steven Fletcher are in competition for a starting berth up front. Lucas João returned from injury in last weekend's 1-0 win over Wigan and could push for a start in the offensive midfield trio alongside Barry Bannan and Marco Matias. The likes of Adam Reach and Sam Hutchinson will anchor the midfield.
