Crystal Palace v Arsenal betting preview
Crystal Palace are hovering one place above the relegation zone on goalTwo wins, one draw, six defeats - that is Palace's record after nine matches of the 2018-19 campaign. The Eagles have lost their last 3 Premier League games and have collected just seven points, leaving them hovering above the dropzone. The Eagles have scored just five goals in nine games and have not scored in their last 4 home games. They suffered a 2-0 defeat to Everton last weekend and lost 14 of their last 16 Premier League matches against the teams that finished in the top six last season.
Christian Benteke remains out for the hosts though Jonny Williams and Pape Souare are back in training. Joel Ward remains a doubt for the Eagles. Max Meyer and Alexander Sorloth have recovered from illness to bolster Roy Hodgson's options in attack, but Roy Hodgson is likely to stick with Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend upfront. Jordan Ayew could come back into the reckoning if Hodgson reverts to a 4-3-3. Changes would appear unlikely in the settled back four, meanwhile, meaning that Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Patrick Van Aanholt, Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins will start in defense.
Arsenal are currently on their best run of form for 11 yearsArsenal have won their last seven in the Premier League to move into fourth position and enter this weekend's fixtures just two points off the top of the division. Thursday’s Europa League victory away to Sporting was an 11th in a row for Unai Emery's men. The Gunners have won 9 of their last 11 matches against Crystal Palace in all competitions. The North London club recorded a 3-2 victory in the corresponding match last season, and also ran out 4-1 winners when the pair last locked horns at Emirates Stadium back in January.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan's position will also be under threat by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who could again start out wide to accommodate Alexandre Lacazette in the final third of the field. Alex Iwobi, Lucas Torreira, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette did not start against Sporting and are expected to return here. Granit Xhaka is likely to anchor the midfield while Stephan Lichtsteiner should start as left back since Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal are doubts. Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Rob Holding are in contention for a starting berth in central defence. Petr Cech and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are back in training while Laurent Koscielny remain sidelined.
