Burnley v Manchester UTD betting preview

Burnley are winless in nine league matches against this opposition

Burnley head into this contest 12th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone, despitel osing 1-0 at Everton on Boxing Day. That result ended a two-game winning streak that saw the Clarets beating 1-0 both Newcastle (at home) and Bournemouth (away). At Turf Moor, Sean Dyche's men  have recorded five victories and five defeats across all competitions thus far. Burnley's Premier League record against United is also disappointing, winning just one of their 10 top-flight meetings with the English giants.

The hosts will be without the services of either Ben Gibson or Aaron Lennon for Saturday's match through injury and illness respectively, but Jeff Hendrick is available after a one-match ban. As a result, Robbie Brady's place is also potentially at risk. Former United midfielder Danny Drinkwater is in contention to feature in the middle of the park. Ashley Barnes was held back on Boxing Day but will likely start up front, alongside Chris Wood. No changes are expected at the back, with James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Phil Bardsley and Charlie Taylor all featuring from the off. The likes of Erik Pieters, Matt Lowton and Kevin Long are the back-up options in defence.

Man UTD  have won on their last three visits to Turf Moor without conceding a goal

Manchester UTD travel to Turf Moor on the back of a 4-1 victory against Newcastle at Old Trafford, a result that lifted them in 7th spot in the Premier League standings, just four points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea. Anyway, seven  wins from 19 league matches this season is far from a brilliant record. The Red Devils have been inconsistent on the road with a W2 D3 L4 record in 9 top flight matches. Plus, they haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last 14 league matches. As to direct encounters, Man UTD came out on top in each of their last three visits to this ground without conceding a goal.

Scott McTominay is a doubt after coming off at half-time versus Newcastle with a knock. Paul Pogba could start alongside Fred in central midfield. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial saved energies last time out as they were given breathers in the form of early substitutions. As a consequence, they should start in attack, alongside Jesse Lingard and Daniel James, both rested against the Magpies. Mason Greenwood and Andreas Pereira will be initially benched, while Juan Mata provides a further option. Ashley Young is in contention with Luke Shaw at left back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Viktor Lindelof are expected to complete the backline. Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones and Brandon Williams are alternatives in defence.
