Barcelona vs Inter Milan betting preview

Barcelona are struggling to be at their best due to injuries and questionable coaching

Barcelona won back-to-back matches for the first time this season last weekend, as they won 2-0 at Getafe. Prior to that, the blaugrana beat 2-1 Villarreal at home. The Catalan giants are now 4th in La Liga standings, 2 points shy off Real Madrid and one point behind Granada and Atletico Madrid. As to the Champions League, Ernesto Valverde's men claim a goalless draw at Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 1. These teams also clashed in last season’s Champions League Group Stage, with Barcelona beating Inter Milan 2-0 in the game at Camp Nou.

Key forwards Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele have trained with the rest of the team but remain major doubts. The Argentine striker could be replaced by 21-year-old Carles Perez, who will complete the front trio alongside Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann. Rising star Ansu Fati is unavailable for the hosts, as well as defensders Samuel Umtiti and Jordi Alba. As a result, Junior Firpo is expected to deputise as full back back with Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo competing for the other full back berth. The likes of Arthur and Frenkie De Jong are likely to flank Sergio Busquets in midfield.

Inter Milan are enjoying an impressive start of the season. Antonio Conte's men have made a 100 per cent start to their Serie A campaign winning all six of their matches, the latest being a 3-1 success at Sampdoria despite being in 10 men for the whole second half. Inter sit top the table with a 2 points margin over Juventus (with a mouthwatering Inter-Juventus scheduled for this weekend). The Nerazzurri boast the best defense in Europe so far with just 2 goals conceded. Their only slip came in Champions League as Lukaku & Co. only managed to draw against Slavia Praga at S.Siro (1-1), courtesy of a very late goal scored by Nicolò Barella.

Romelu Lukaku will miss the match due to a muscle injury. The Belgian will probably recover in time for the match against Juventus. As a result, Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez (who has a one-match ban in Serie A) will be paired upfront, with Matteo Politano viable alternative. Conte should decide to go for technical skills and ball possession in midfield, giving a starting berth to Nicolò Barella, Marcelo Brozovic and Stefano Sensi. Otherwise, he can choose one between Matias Vecino and Roberto Gagliardini. The likes of Danilo D'Ambrosio and Kwadwo Asamoah will start as wing-backs while Diego Godin will replace Alessandro Bastoni in the three man backline.
