Arsenal have won just once of their last nine matches at Emirates

Mikel Arteta has lost just one of his opening nine matches as Arsenal manager but the Gunners are still 10 points below 4th placed Chelsea. Actually, they have drawn 13 of their last 22 games in all competitions, including the last four in the top flight against Crystal Palace (1-1), Sheffield UTD (1-1), Chelsea (2-2) and Burnley (0-0). Their only victory came in the FA Cup as the Londoners won 2-1 at Bournemouth. As to direct encounters, Arsenal have defeated the Magpies in 13 of their last 14 matches.

Sead Kolasinac, Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson were all passed fit on Friday but the only the first is expected to start. Lucas Torreira could find himself back in the centre of midfield if Matteo Guendouzi makes way while Mesut Ozil should get the nod over Dani Ceballos for the number ten role. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabriell Martinelli should start as offensive wingers, with Alexandre Lacazette speaheading the attack. Nicolas Pepe provides a further offensive options. Shkodran Mustafi may keep his place in defence alongside David Luiz while Pablo Mari is aiming to feature against Olympiacos next Thursday as he builds up match-fitness.

Newcastle are unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions but have drawn six of them. They sit 12th in the Premier League standings, level on points with the Gunners. They are only six points adrift of the Premier League's top six, butstill just seven points above the relegation zone. Last time out, Steve Bruce's men required extra-time to beat League One outfit Oxford UTD (2-3) in a FA Cup 4th round reply match. The original tie ended 0-0, the same scoreline they recorded against Norwich in their last Premier League outing on 1st February. The Magpies possess the joint-worst attack in the Premier League with 24 goals scored in 25 games.

Despite the injuries to Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle, Bruce will hope that Joelinton is now ready to fill the void having scored against Oxford UTD last time out. Miguel Almiron is fully recovered and is expected to start. Allan Saint-Maximin will feature on the other flank, while new signing Nabil Bentaleb and Isaac Hayden will anchor the midfield. The Longstaff brothers are options in the middle of the park, while Florian Lejeune and Fabian Schar may have to play back-up once again given that Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark have been the preferred options at centre-back. January signing Valentino Lazaro and DeAndre Yedlin are in contention for the right back spot. Long-term absentees Jetro Willems, Paul Dummett and Emil Krafth (ankle) are out.
