Tour De France Stage 20 Betting PreviewIt's a largely flat time trial. The stage takes a few twists and turns for the first 8km before settling into the road to Lussac. From this point, it starts a long false-flat grind with some gentle undulations to the second intermediate time check, at 20.1km.
Around 16.5km into the stage, there is a short 500 metre ramp uphill which averages around 4.5%. Then a straightforward section of slight downhill leads to a final 7km of false flat again to the finish in Saint-Émilion.
The final few kilometres slowly rise uphill to a false flat (but the climb gradient don't exceed 3%).
We would not expect to see any change in the top step of the general classification (barring any incidents, like a serious crash).
Stage 20 FavouritesTadej Pogacar holds a five-minute lead in the yellow jersey and is one of the main contenders for the stage win, having already won an individual time-trial earlier at this Tour.
Second and third-placed in the GC, Richard Carapaz and Jonas Vingegaard, are currently only separated by six seconds. The Dane is the better time-triallist and is likely to overtake the Ecuadorian in the general classification. Both rider will go full gas but they don't represent a threat for the stage win.
This will be a day for the TT specialists. That means Stefan Küng, second to Pogaçar in the Stage 5 ITT, is a probable contender.
Other time-trialist left in the peloton are Deceuninck-Quick Step’s Kasper Asgreen, EF Education-Nippo’s Magnus Cort and Stefan Bissegger and DQS’s Mattia Cattaneo.
Wout Van Aert opted against a tilt at the polka-dot jersey in the final week despite being well placed in the KOM classification heading into the second rest day and may well have been targeting this ITT.
Surprise packages?Max Walscheid and Nils Politt could put in a big performance on the day. The former performed well in the final ITT at this year's Giro d'Italia, while the latter looked one of the most brilliant rider in the last few stages.
Mikkel Bjerg and Brandon McNulty are other two dark horses. Alexey Lutsenko should finish in the Top 10 at the end of the day while Rigoberto Uran fell out of contention in the last two mountain stage and will fight to regain some position.
Julian Alaphilippe is another rider able to finish in the Top 10 but will the Frenchman give his 100% or not?
