2017/18 PREMIER LEAGUE TOP GOALSCORER BETTING PREVIEWHarry Kane won won Premier League Golden Boot last season with a fantastic return of 29 league goals in just 30 appearances. This was his second consecutive Golden Boot and his third consecutive season scoring more than 20 league goals. Of course, he is the odds on favourite to retain his title of Top Goalscorer.
His biggest contender is Romelu Lukaku, who has just moved to Josè Mourinho's Manchester UTD. The Belgian scored three in pre-season and got himself on the scoresheet in the UEFA Super Cup. He is a terrific striker but he coudl have to share his goals out with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and potentially Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The uncertainty over how Manchester City will line up sees both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus at relatively short prices.
Despite spending time on the bench and out of form, Aguero still managed to notch 20 Premier League goals last season. Gabriel Jesus might have only played ten Premier League matches but seven goals in those games shows he can find the back of the net. Anyway, it’s unlikely that either Jesus or Aguero will play more than 30 league games this season.
Other new arrivals such as Alvaro Morata and Alexandre Lacazette are tipped to be among the goals. The Spaniard, who scored 15 goals mainly off the bench last season, is expected to replace Diego Costa as the Blues' main frontman.
The Frenchman does have the look of a finisher – something the Gunners have missed for a while. He has been ultra-prolific in Ligue 1 and arrives in the Premier League on the back of a 28-goal campaign for Lyon.
Lacazette and Morata face internal competition from Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi respectively but these two are more likely to play as substitutes in Premier League and starting in the domestic cups.
Alexis Sanchez and Philippe Coutinho could leave the Premier League and sign for PSG and Barcelona respectively. Should they stay at Arsenal and Liverpool, they will be unhappy and their performances should not be as good as they can.
Sadio Mane scored 13 in 27 matches for Liverpool last year and should well better that ratio if he will stay away from injuries.
Marcus Rashford is next in the betting, but we are not sure he will get the playing time needed to win the Golden Boot title.
Jermain Defoe netted 15 Premier League goals last season, which equated to 52% of Sunderland’s goals all season. Playing for a more offensive team as Bournemouth, Defoe is expected to improve his tally this season.
Jamie Vardy went cold last season but seemed to regain some of the title-winning form under Craig Shakespeare.
Daniel Sturridge looks no serious contender as he is injury-prone while Tammy Abraham is too young and play for Swansea, one of the less prolific team of the Premier League.
Dele Alli scored 18 goals last season and he is just 21 years old. Anyway, he is not a striker and offensive midfielders usually don't win the Top Goalscorer title.
Everton's duo Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez don't look they could beat the 20-goal mark, as well as Kelechi Iheanacho, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Saido Berahino.
Looking for big shots??
The dark horses in the Top Goalscorer market, in our opinion, could be Javier Hernandez (West Ham), Manolo Gabbiadini (Southampton) and Christian Benteke (Crystal Palace).
'Chicharito' should be Slaven Bilic's no.1 hitman and could place if replicating his Bundesliga form, Gabbiadini was scoring for fun when he just arrived from Napoli before to suffer an injury while Benteke should benefit by new Palace manager Frank De Boer's offensive style.
