This is a typical breakaway stage. The two climbs in the beginning of the stage Col du Grand Cucheron and Col du Granier are both very steep and that should be a strong breakaway group to fight it out for win in Annonay Davézieux. On stage 11, Bradley Wiggins extended his overall lead to 2mins 05secs over fellow Team Sky rider Chris Froome as defending champion Cadel Evans suffered a bad day. In stage 12 from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to Annonay Davezieux, Peter Sagan is aiming for a fourth stage win of Le Tour which would increase his points lead, currently standing at 27 points over Matt Goss. If the peloton does decide to work and bring back any breakaway, Sagan is a big favourite here. Otherwise this stage could be a day for the fighters with a high number of riders wanting to breakaway. The 2 first category climbs at the start of the stage will thin the peloton down significantly but from the top op Col du Granier there are 120 km to go so possibility of it all coming back together for a sprint in a selective group is also there - no doubts about that. Riders like Sandy Casar, Sylvain Chavanel and Simon Gerrans are also excellent picks for Stage 12 as well. The uphill finish suits them perfectly
