JUVENTUS v LAZIO BETTING PREVIEWJuventus beat Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final back in May but was hammered 4-1 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final a week later. Their pre-season tour produced mixed results against some of the best team's in Europe, beating Roma on penalties and PSG 3-2, and suffering defeats at the hands of Barcelona (1-2) and Tottenham (0-2). It will be a new test for them to cope without defender Leonardo Bonucci who has joined AC Milan. Dani Alves, Mario Lemina also left the club but the Bianconeri have strengthened their team by signing Federico Bernardeschi, Douglas Costa, Rodrigo Betancur, Wojciech Szczesny and Mattia De Sciglio. The Italian champions boast an extremely strong record against the Biancocelesti, with Lazio failing to win any of their previous 14 meetings in all competitions.
Massimiliano Allegri will start the new season with the 4-2-3-1 system that has served him well in the previous one. He should have his full squad to choose from with the excepction of Marko Pjaca who is still nursing his cruciate ligament injury. Gonzalo Higuain will lead the line, while Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa and Mario Mandzukic, with Federico Bernardeschi and Juan Cuadrado viable alternatives. Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli are likely to form the central defensive pair with Alex Sandro and Stephan Lichtsteiner as right and left back. Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira will start in midfield as usual.
Lazio have only made it to the Super Cup because they lost the Coppa Italia final to Juve last year. Anyway, the Biancocelesti enjoyed a good season, emerging as one of the most exciting sides to watch in Italy. Their preseason went perfectly as Simone Inzaghi's men won four out of four friendlies, beating Triestina and Spal at first, but also Bayer Leverkusen and Malaga. Lazio's recent record against Juventus is hugely negative, having lost to nil in seven straight meetings with the Old Lady.
Lucas Leiva will play in the middle of the park, as he was signed exactly to replace Lucas Biglia, who moved to AC Milan. The other new signing Felipe Caicedo will wait for his shot from the bench. Felipe Anderson is not in perfect conditions and is not expected to feature from the off. As a result, striker Ciro Immobile will be supported by Filip Djordjevic while Keita Balde, who is rumoured to join Juventus after this clash, has not been named with the team. The three man defence will be formed by Stefan De Vrij, Wallace and Stefan Radu while Dusan Basta and Senad Lulic will play as wing backs in a 3-5-2 starting formation.
