GREAT BRITAIN vs SOUTH KOREA: MATCH PREVIEWGreat Britain have defeated Uruguay by a score of 1-0 in the last match at the Olympic football branch Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Wednesday. Daniel Sturridge has been the hero of that match with a single goal in the final minutes of the first half.
With this victory, delivering the United Kingdom qualify for the quarter-finals as winners of Group A while the runner-up in Senegal achieved after drawing with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Group A has been very tough: three teams were only one point apart with GB and Senegal tied in first with four points and Uruguay in third with three points.
Great Britain finished top of Group A but had a nervous start in their opening match against Senegal. They were looking good when 1-0 up but after Senegal equalised both teams had chances to win. They were comfortable though in their 3-1 win over the United Arab Emirates
Stuart Pearce's team has gained confidence as the tournament has progressed, especially after the draw with Senegal.
South Korea finished second in Group B to Mexico, with whom they drew 0-0 in their opening match. Key to them reaching the quarter finals was the 2-1 victory over Switzerland as they could only manage a 0-0 draw with Gabon in the final game. This is a disciplined, hard-working team that will be hard to beat, but will also struggle to advance.
