This Wednesday, Real Madrid will travel to Barcelona in the second Clásico of 2012. The two Spanish giants will meet at the Camp Nou in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey. FC BARCELONA vs REAL MADRID: MATCH PREVIEWThe first leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinal matchup between Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid ended the same way so many of these recent historical ties have, Barcelona on with a 2-1 victory at the Bernabeu. Going into the second leg, Barca will be the clear favorites to progress to the semis. The visitors have to score at least two goals in this match to have any hope of progressing in the competition so it is a difficult task for them especially since they would have to keep Barça goalless if they wanted two goals to be just enough to go through.

Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has come under fire for his choice of tactics following last week's 2-1 loss, with the Portuguese coach repeatedly jeered during a 4-1 league win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Madrid has won only one of its last 13 meetings against Barcelona - April's Copa del Rey final - with nine losses over that period.

Barcelona is coming off a 4-1 league win at Malaga in which Messi notched his 10th career hat-trick for the European champions. Messi now has 36 goals in all competitions this season, while teammate Alexis Sanchez has also found his rhythm with the Spanish champions, the Chile forward scoring three goals in his last four games.

By the way, in the first Leg, Mourinho’s game plan worked perfectly. The first half was theirs, with Barca making little stress on that defense. The early goal by Ronaldo calmed things down for the home side and allowed Madrid to fall back into sometimes five defenders along the back line.

Barcelona is certainly beatable. But in order to do that, Madrid should really straighten up its defense. The only team that has ever beaten Barcelona’s top 11 was Mourinho’s Inter and the key to that victory was superb organization and a solid defense. Madrid has an amazing line up in attack but attack is not the best form of attack against Barcelona. The only way to attack them is by destroying their formation through a rock solid defense, rock solide midfield, and efficient attack.

Madrid has been playing amazing ball being number one in points in La Liga. Unless Madrid's frustrations build up and Barça goes all out in the next few games, Madrid will stay atop of La Liga.

Defender Pepe's availability is uncertain after the Portugal international was benched against Bilbao following the fallout from his stamp on Lionel Messi's hand in the first leg. Khedira and Di Maria probably won't be available. As for Barça, the absentees are long term injury victims David Villa, Ibrahim Afellay, and Andreu Fontas, and Seydou Keita who is at the African Cup of Nations with Mali.
