The Pertemps Final Hurdle is a handicap race and is run on the Thursday of the Cheltenham Festival after being served by several trial races throughout the National Hunt season. It's a Grade 3 handicap hurdle over nearly three miles, for horsers aged five years old and upwards. Many outsiders have claimed glory in the race in the past.

The Pertemps Final Handicap has produced several big priced winners in recent years with the average SP of around 20/1 since the year 2000, so clearly this is a bookmaker friendly handicap (where stakes are best kept to a minimum).

And now we'll take a closer look at this year's Pertemps Final Handicap Hurdle and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail.

LOUIS' VAC POUCH improved at the back end of last season and won three of his last four starts. He started off with a fair 6th at Chepstow on his seasonal bow and then was stepped up to three miles for the first time at Aintree in November. He’s not been seen since winning this Aintree race, unsuited by winter ground so clearly being saved for a tilt at the big spring targets.

GLENLOE has had just 8 starts in his career, placed on all three of his races this season in similarly competitive handicap hurdles to this.

FORZA MILAN comes here freshened up by a three month break since finishing a cracking second at Newbury behind The Organist. Prior to that the 6yo was beaten 2 1/4 lengths and ran like a horse with a bit more to offer.

A GREAT VIEW beat Glenloa in the qualifier at Leopardstown at the Christmas meeting. He has since ran again at Leopardstown and was a very good 5th in the valuable William Fry Handicap won by Total Recall.

SORT IT OUT had been chasing this season without any success, well beaten in every race. He came home a decent third when he reverted to hurdles, the first time he had finished in the first three since 2015. It's hard to support him.

WAIT FOR ME has been novice chasing this season but reverted back to hurdles last time out at Wincanton. He was third that day behind Protek Des Flo.

DELTA WORK is running in only his third handicap and may be ready to strike. He didn’t get the run of the race at Punchestown last month, when finishing alongside Sort It Out, and Davy Russell returns to the saddle.

WHO DARES WINS finished a good third in Coral Cup last year. He scored in a decent handicap on Flat at Newmarket in September and was a creditable third back hurdling at Kempton in November. He is unexposed as a stayer over hurdles.

MINE NOW was better than ever when landing big-field handicap at Leopardstown over Christmas by a short head from the reopposing A Great View.

LOVENORMONEY was a 5/1 shot when appearing on the New Course in January but after making a poor start he never stood a chance. Warren Greatrex gave the seven-year-old the chance to make amends at Exeter and he duly did so, winning the Class 2 contest by six lengths.

BOITE got back to winning ways after a wind operation in a 19 furlongs handicap at Taunton in January, coming clear unchallenged. He was still going well when fell 3 out in Haydock Grade 2 last time out. He could be the suprise package.

THOMAS CAMPBELL was entered in the Stayers Hurdle originally and when he won his first two starts over this trip things were looking very rosey. Two defeats later including one behind Sam Spinner and he has had his sights lowered somewhat. He will carry top weight.

PROTEK DES FLO back to winning ways at Wincanton (21f) on Boxing Day, but he was not in the same form when third over 25 furlong race at Huntingdon in January.

There are many much fancied horses. DADSINTROUBLE, KANSAS CITY CHIEF, PRIME VENTURE, SYKES and THE MIGHTY DON are the most interesting among these.
