BRAZIL v ARGENTINA BETTING PREVIEWBrazil are the first team to have secured their appearance at the next World Cup 2018 in Russia, having lost just one of their 14 qualifying matches so far. They have won each of their nine games since changing their head coach, with most of those wins recorded by a big margin. The last time that these two giants faced off against each other, Brazil eased to a 3-0 home win over the Albiceleste in World Cup 2018 qualifying.
Brazil manager Tite ite has left a number of first-choice players out of his squad here, including Neymar. In a slightly experimental XI, the likes of Weverton, Fagner and Willian are likely to start while Thiago Silva will play his first game for the Seleçao since June 2015. Defenders Marquinhos and Dani Alves are not in the Brazil squad. Up front, Gabriel Jesus is expected to lead the line, with Philippe Coutinho and Renato Augusto behind him. Ederson, Alex Sandro, Diego Souza and Rodrigo Caio were late in joining the squad and they will not be in contention for starting positions.
Argentina are under new management as former Chile and Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has taken over, replacing Edgardo Bauza. They currently lie in 5th position in the CONMEBOL qualify group for the 2018 World Cup with just four games to go, winning only six out of 14 games. Hence, their partecipation to Russia 2018 is in danger. As always, Messi will be the main man for Argentina. They have won five of the last six games he has played and have only won one of the last eight matches in which he has been unavailable. The Albiceleste though are struggling a bit in the head to head with the Selecao, having won just one of their last five games now against Brazil (W1 D1 L3).
The new boss will field his side in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Sergio Aguero, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Enzo Perez were the high-profile players overlooked by new manager, while Manuel Lanzini, Alejandro Gomez and Leandro Paredes are the new faces called by Sampaoli. Javier Mascherano pulled out of the squad with an injury, so Emanuel Mammana should start at the back. Mauro Icardi is not fully fit and will not be risked. Anyway, the front trio is highly impressive as well since Leo Messi and Paulo Dybala will flank Gonzalo Higuain.
