BARCELONA v PSG BETTING PREVIEW
Barcelona need to overcome a four goal deficit as they lost 4-0 in Paris in the first leg a fortnight ago, their heaviest defeat in European competition. No club has ever overturned a first-leg 4-0 away defeat in a Champions League knockout tie. The Blaugrana could point to home form in the group stage which saw Manchester City and Monchengladbach lose 4-0 here whilst Glasgow Celtic were thrashed 7-0 as evidence that they could still turn things around. Since that embarassing night, Barcelona have recorded four straight victories taking them to the top of the log in La Liga although Real Madrid are just one point adrift with one game in hand. Luis Enrique's men warmed up for this weekend with a facile 5-0 victory over Celta Vigo.
The trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez will lead the line in a 3-4-3 system. The likes of Gerard Piquè, Jordi Alba and Samuel Umtiti will form the three man backline while Ivan Rakitic, Andres Iniesta, Sergi Busquets and Rafinha are expected to start in midfield. Defenders Aleix Vidal and Jeremy Mathieu plus midfielder Andre Gomes are all sidelined for the hosts due to ankle injuries.
Since the first leg PSG have taken 10 points from four Ligue 1 outings and they are fighting for the Ligue 1 title with Nice and Monaco. Edinson Cavani's late penalty handed Paris Saint-Germain a 1-0 win over Nancy at Parc des Princes at the weekend.
Their win over Barcelona in Paris was arguably the best performance any team has put together in Europe's top club competition this season—a dominant showing against one of the favourites for the title. PSG have never won in five previous visits to Camp Nou but they have scored in two of their last three visits to Barcelona.
Unai Emery has some injury concerns ahead of the return leg and will recall a number of first team regulars after they were rested on Saturday. Thiago Motta is carrying a thigh injury and is unlikely to feature while Marquinhos, Angel Di Maria and Adrien Rabiot are all doubts. Thiago Silva missed the first leg through injury and could replace Presnel Kimpembe at the heart of the defence. Up front, Edinson Cavani will play as central striker with Julian Draxler and one between Di Maria and Lucas Moura on his flanks.
