AC MILAN vs ARSENAL: MATCH PREVIEWAC Milan's defense is not doing so well lately. The team have conceded at least one goal in six of their last nine games in all competitions. Also in the group stage of the Champions League Milan conceded in four of their six games (eight goals in six games).
The Rossoneri conceded at least one goal in nine of their last twelve home Champions League games (only Viktoria Plzeň, Bate Borisov and Auxerre didn't manage to score at "San Siro").

Milan top Serie A by two points although second placed Juventus have two games in hand. They returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at Udinese last weekend after a league defeat at Lazio (2-0), a 0-0 stalemate at home to Napoli and a 2-1 home defeat to Juve in the Coppa Italia. AC Milan have suffered only one defeat at home this season in Serie A, losing against Inter Milan back in the middle of January.

Arsenal seem to be coming into form again in a season in which they have been dogged by inconsistency and an inability to maintain momentum. They followed a 7-1 demolition of Blackburn with a gritty 2-1 win at in-form Sunderland. So Arsenal won three of their last four games in all competitions (3-1-0) and will go to Milan with a lot of confidence before this very important first leg between the two team.

The Gunners have all the characteristics to put Milan in trouble. Arsenal can play a fast passing game, with real pace on the flanks, where the Rossoneri are vulnerable, as clearly shown in the side's recent Coppa Italia clash against Juventus.

Wenger have a lot of problems expecially with the defense, Jenkinson, Santos, Wilshere and Diaby are all out, while Gibbs is questionable. As for the hosts, Alessandro Nesta, Alexandre Pato and Kevin-Prince Boateng could all be passed fit to play after returning to training this week, which would clearly boost the home side’s chances.

The sides met in 2008: there was again a 0-0 draw in London but Arsenal went to the San Siro and won 2-0. AC Milan have faltered at this stage of the competition against English opposition in the last three seasons, losing out to Spurs last season, Manchester United the year before, and the Gunners themselves, as previously mentioned, in 2008. Anyway, AC Milan had never lost at home to an English side.

Van Persie has scored 22 league goals already this season, and he will be looking to add to his three Champions League goals against AC Milan. This match will be Henry's last game for the Gunners before the Frenchman returns to his parent club, the New York Red Bulls, for the start of the MLS season. Arsenal probably will line-up in a 4-2-3-1 formation as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott flank Robin Van Persie. Aaron Ramsey made a game changing entry against Sunderland and he will be the vital link between midfield and attack while Mikel Arteta and Alex Song sit slightly deeper.
